that is a specific style designed by Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren
I believe they called it the Buffalo Hat.
it was worn by Malcolm McLaren & The Supreme Team in the early 1980s around the time they released Buffalo Gals and Double Dutch.
I think it is pretty great looking actually

Here's my JJ Hat Center lid. It originally had an open crown which they gave it a teardrop. I tried to make a diamond out if it but that was before I knew I needed steam. I will try again but with steam this time.

Thanks Redfokker! It's been like this for a while. The felt is not soft like the Whippet. I'm not sure how easy it will be to reshape it. I will try when I have time.
