No idea. I’d guess that could have a mold, but that’s just a guess. I too see them on Etsy and elsewhere.

So I did try give my Amish Stetson a brick style crease. This is from above after about 1.5hrs of patiently working the hat over 2 days. This is the stiffest hat I have ever worked. My recommendations for creasing this hat.

1. Gently pull out the liner, or at as much of the liner out as possible.

2. Gently steam crown both inside and out

3. When you think you have given it enough steam give it a little bit more.

4. It will cool and stiffen quickly so hit with stream as soon as it starts to stiffen again

5. Be patient and gently work the hat

The buffalo felt behaves well once once you have enough steam but it is a completely different beast than any other felt I have worked. Not a hat to crease if your new or do not want a challenge. I realize this hat is probably not meant to be creased but it can be done and still look good.

So I got bored a few weeks back and added a brick shaped crease to the center of the teardrop on my Pandamator...

My hygienist thought it was bought that way or professionally shaped when he saw it.

I love this.......I have a few actual "clipped creases" for some of my hats......This one while not actually "clipped" was indeed inspired by such a crease. I like the look.....like a spear-point, like yours.....
I am wearing it today in fact......

Am I the only one that finds shaping hats relaxing, at least most of the time. Just a simple dent worth about the 5-10mins that I spent on it last night.

Wow, there's some wild creases out there... and I thought I had a unique hat lol

Long time lounger, 1st time poster... I love the way people choose to personalize there hats.
Heres my bespoke deuce tres, with a 3 1/2" brim, 4 1/2"ish crown, made of 50/50 moss green beaver blend.

This is my 1st and only hat so far, have had it for a couple years now... i want to collect more but the prices on felt hats are wild!
When I was searching for a hat, I searched long and hard and eventually went the bespoke route... And feel I got great bang for my buck, If you can find the right maker I think there's some really awesome stuff to be found in the bespoke market... also some really high prices of course.

This was a off the shelf/pre-made offering from the maker... one of there small batch one off releases.
After months of eyeing the site this hat happened to drop and was in my exact size and basically exactly what I wouldve commissioned if i were to get a custom one made... so I had to pick it up.
It was more then I wanted to spend on my 1st felt hat, but I had wanted one for years and did a bunch of searching before I finally decided on this one and in the end I've been extremely happy with what I got.

About the crown embellishments on this hat:
- It came with the brass clothes pin, gold chain and brown leather cord wrap.
Which was a pretty clean and minimal look (don't know if I have photos around from when I first got it)
- I added the leather scrap pieces, I do leathercrafting as a hobbie so although it may seem a bit much to some here, it highly suits me and is a great conversation starter to me telling people I do leathercraft and shows off a bunch of leathers I've worked with.
- The brass lion pin was my grandfather's and the diamond earring comes from my grandmother.

The Playboy is one of the greatest hats for shaping. This bash was entirely hand shaped with no steam. So easy to shape yet the felt also has enough strength to hold the crease and not distort when you wear it. Amazing.

A little weekend project I was working on. The crease on the hat Alan Cumming wears on the second season of The Traitors for the Traitor Tower “murder scenes” caught my eye and I wanted to see if I could recreate it. The hat has a fairly tall crown with what appears to be a deep but very thin off axis center crease.… Creating what my son called the “Butt Crease”. I had two candidates that I thought might work well. A black long hair Willoughby whose felt was too soft to hold the sharp lines… but this old G.A. Dunn and Co with its tall crown worked very nicely and I think appropriately. My original idea was to steam the felt as much as I could to get it soft enough and use fishing line to make the crease… that idea didn’t pan out too well…. So instead I just went with a deep center crease off axis… then steamed and pinched repeatedly till I could close the gap to almost flush.. in the end I was able to get close to the shape I was looking for. Flipping the brim down in the back was the final touch.
