When I picked up my Premier Stratoliner in the states, I did a quick and dirty sorta cattleman on it. It was difficult because 1. I suck... and 2. It had a patented Moon diamond in it that was tough to work out.

The below is the result... I constantly look at it hanging and think “crap, I gotta fix that”. But then I put it on and realize that I really like it.

With the higher in the front brim and general lived-in feel of it, I call it the “what if Ralph Kramden wore thin ribbons” bash.

Tele that’s a great crease! Diamonds are great but to me, become kinda mundane cause you can only got so far no matter “who’s” it was.
A modified cattleman can go all over the place. You made that your’s...looks good....wear the hell out of it!!

I have a Stetson New York LE open crown coming tomorrow and have never creased a hat so I thought I would practice on this Stetson Stratoliner Premier open crown. I had Del Monico put a rudimentary crease in it when I bought it this Summer but I thought I would sharpen it up a bit.

Any advice and comments welcome.

This is the hat I wore today. I’m still working on the crease. It’s a 30 year old Resistol 3X western so the felt is thick and stiff. It originally had the ubiquitous factory cattleman crease. I find Silverbelly and similar light colors hard to photograph.

Strong light from one direction, and a darkish background, yielded a decent photo of the light color Cavanagh posted above.
