Just out in the yard doing chores, this lid is kinda new yet still old. It's not new, but it's never been worn much though I think that will change now.

Wife had a go at doing a new ribbon for my Silverbelly Campdraft, look at this ribbon, her first attempt and I think she rocked it in. I love the bigger kicks on the ribbon she did, she went from Grasshopper to Master in her first go ;)

Nice job!!! Your wife’s bow is awesome! You lucky dawg.
The only thing better than being able to do your own custom work is having a wife that can and will do it for you!
:)
Hat looks great and you wear it well.

Your wife did a great job with that Campdraft. Looks like a completely different hat with the new ribbon. Very nice.

Stefan and Dave’s hats were giving me the blues.... had to do something about it.

There is blind stitching on the brim. I had originally thought it was decorative stitching on the guild edge. Which was something I had not seen before. Someone in another forum made a suggestion that the original Cavanagh edge had been trimmed. And then the hatter who did the modification had used to blind stitching to emulate a Cavanagh edge as best he could. If that is the case it is masterful work. This theory does make sense considering the short brim on a probably 1950s hat. ( based on manufacturing tag). Any thoughts on this.

I apologize if I am using the term blind stitching incorrectly. What I am referring is tiny stitches on the welt that do not go through the underside of the brim.

The brim cut down is an interesting and plausible theory. Whatever the case it’s a good looking blue hat. The high crown and wide ribbon are always a winner in my book.
