What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

A much delayed trip to our favorite Hatter in Eugene today... I have not been able to drive long trips due to my back surgery, so a beautiful Ecuadorian straw has been waiting to be picked up. Now it will have to wait until spring for it's debut. Wearing my early 1950s Borsalino Featherweight (Via @moontheloon) for some show and tell with Mike Miller. Looking forward to the trip.
Yesterday was both disappointing and a relief of stress. The pins in my hand need more time to knit the fracture. There was some shattering of the bone, so I guess that is the reason. So I'm all trussed up until the 30th. Since they were just going to yank them out, I was kind of dreading this appointment.

A hat that makes me smile on a rainy day. One hundred years old with tons of righteous wear - stains, nibbles, a sweatband that was secured with stitches only a monster could love... and a ribbon that is, well, original, if not original. It feels really good on and makes me daydream about all the places it's been.

Oh my! That is one super Western, flying carpet, back to the future hat, Alan. The fact that it has been worn, loved, and shows its battle scars, and yet is still standing is a testament to its quality and beauty. Nicely worn too, sir [emoji145].

Thank you Steve and Bowen and Jim. This hat was discovered by Justin, from whom I purchased it.

Well, last night I stayed up late working on hats ... on a work day night! Payed for it today.
I’m converting a black Resistol western into either an Indie or more likely a fedora/Western blend. Cut the brim down, did a Roy Rogers shower reshape and now I have to sew on a black two inch ribbon and bow.
I also showered a Seventies ten X Stetson OR and put in a diamond crease. Man! Those late model cattleman’s creases are
Dang near impossible to turn, But finally got this steer to heal over!

Here’s a Champ fedora I wore today that I changed the ribbon on. The old one was thin, worn, sweat stained... and ugly. This new one inch ribbon and bow looks much nicer. I think it’s a sixties model.

Tonight I’m going to bed early. I’m tired.[emoji16]
