Thanks sir. The brim on the Casual is 2.5." The hat is truly minty. It should really have more head time.

Sir, the mosquitoes have their moments. Early mornings when it is is cooler they are less plentiful. In truth, like my neighbors in the north, we learn to tolerate the buzzing as many fewer lite and try to bite. Additionally using Deet, head nets and diving under the surface of water happens many weeks. Raising your anxiety/heart/respiration rate just attracts the blood gathering insects. Be cool and be perseverant are the characteristics that work for me.

It is a benefit to living on a lake near a metro vs. the Boundary Waters as the Metro Mosquito Control folks spray and work to control the population. I have more concerns with Canadian Geese, deer, turkeys and lake-tourists than the mosquitoes.

Ahhh, summer is brief in my area and I need to focus on enjoying the benefits of warmth. You too, enjoy your summer. Best, Eric -
I am, and I'm not, teasing. I grew up around Chicago, and finished school in NW Indiana.
I know what it's like to take insects for granted. That Land of 1000 Lakes did always seem extra brutal, but it was usually along the Boundary/Quetico region where I gained the perspective. I think the bugs use Walleye, Northern, and Big Mouth as bait.
And I say it from Colorado.. I get one mosquito bite a year, but do usually get stung by a wasp 2 or 3 times. Forty years here makes me wonder why I ever put up with bugs. People who don't live here probably can't even concieve of someplace where bugs have next to no impact on your life.
Even more than humidity, it's why I'll never move back to the Midwest.
However, if I did, I'd cultivate relationships with the fairer sex. Their blood vessels are closer to the surface.
You dont have to outrun the bear. You just have to outrun me.

Hey everyone!
Another beautiful day, another Goodwill straw. Not as fine of a weave as yesterday's Optimo, but still a nice old Panama.

Even though it's not from Chicago, it's got the Optimo crown.. :)
Have a great day!

Very nice!
Pin a string to your block. It works everywhere, not just in Chi-town.

Early morning dog soiree in a vtg.Stetson Flagship. This Flagship (40's version) has a petersham mid-ribbon treatment with the signature edge of this model.

After getting home I started trimming bushes in a Stetson Stratoliner. This 50's version is a different "pine green" hue than its un-lined brother on my hat rack.

Holy Moley! (I've never known what that means)
I'm not sure what knocked the cheese out of you, but you appear extremely Austin from here.
I actually bought cigarettes out of a machine in Austin TX (after I gave them up), just because I could!
Feed it, yank the rod, and, viola, cancer on demand!

Born & raised in Milwaukee and still a Packers fan. But, I sold my snow shovel and left there in 1971 when I joined the Air Force, after 22 yrs in the military I discovered places to live that I liked more. Go Pack Go, still a cheesehead through and through. ;)

My most favorite example of a montecristi blocked in the natural (optimo) style. Age (or a camel?) has broken a straw of the hat's back, but its spirit remains unbroken. Kinda like me. This hat was shared with me some years back by an esteemed Lounge member.
