Thanks Brent!
It's not a tear in the brim, but a section where a straw was pulled out of the weave and the brim cteased along the weak spot. Looks kinda like a run in a stocking. But I can'r see it when it's on! :)

It sure is! And thanks.

Hi Jim! Good to be seen!
Playboy is looking sharp. Still want to find one of those. One that fits ME, anyway... :)

Thanks Bowen! Good to see you (and everyone else) too! Things are good up here in NorCal. I'll have to shout from the rooftop more often. :)

Thanks Michael! It was a great Goodwill.com score. Digging that Hut-Spanke. It spanks hut for sure! :D

Yo, Moe!! Good to see your happy face! Looks like you even dropped a hat size?! Sweet paja.

Thank you, H&R. Yup. I saved the ribbon. I'll probably use it on another hat project sometime down the road.
I like your conversions a lot, Terry.
Beautiful work!
I have some ideas about hatshapers, and even the foam "wanablocks" . PM me if you're interested in hearing my ideas.

Posted in the modern Stratoliner thread too. Not sure why it says "The Temple" on sweat instead of having saying "Stratoliner" and having the jet logo like my other one. Not sure how old this one is, might be an outlet hat but no hole punched in sweat. I has a 2.5" brim like modern strats do (my other Sand colored hemp strat has more like a 2 3/4" or 2 7/8" brim.)

Is The Temple a nod to Indy, maybe?

Thanks sir. This Mallory does have that desirable clay-like felt characteristic. I do have a decade later version of the Dallas and it does not have the same clay like felt quality. That hat and a Mallory Ten are compared here. https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/side-by-side-hat-comparisons.65983/page-27#post-2076194

This afternoon I was out and about in an un-lined Stetson Playboy. Milk chocolate hued felt just makes me thirsty.

This evening I was enjoying the evening down on the dock in a blue/gray Stetson Playboy. The odd evening light shows the felt to be a purple-blue hue that it is not when viewed in person.

Best this summer evening, Eric -
I'm sure you've learned to love the smell of Deet.
How do you chase the skeeters out of your pictures?
I can't understand it.
I've fished and paddled the Boundary Waters. The little buggers posed!

That probably means you lost a little in the scull.

It's true! I lost over 60 lbs. a few years back, and went down one hat size. Others have had the same experience with big weight drops.

When my green/gray M&K Custom Hatters of LA got too big, I put a few pounds back on so it would fit again. Got to have priorities.

Beautiful Bantam Eric, what is the width on that brim. Looks perfect.

Thanks sir. The brim on the Casual is 2.5." The hat is truly minty. It should really have more head time.

Sir, the mosquitoes have their moments. Early mornings when it is is cooler they are less plentiful. In truth, like my neighbors in the north, we learn to tolerate the buzzing as many fewer lite and try to bite. Additionally using Deet, head nets and diving under the surface of water happens many weeks. Raising your anxiety/heart/respiration rate just attracts the blood gathering insects. Be cool and be perseverant are the characteristics that work for me.

It is a benefit to living on a lake near a metro vs. the Boundary Waters as the Metro Mosquito Control folks spray and work to control the population. I have more concerns with Canadian Geese, deer, turkeys and lake-tourists than the mosquitoes.

Ahhh, summer is brief in my area and I need to focus on enjoying the benefits of warmth. You too, enjoy your summer. Best, Eric -
