Thanks for the comments yesterday.

Bowlerman: I always like seeing that Falcon Park.

Perry: Beautiful Stratoliner. It's nice to see your smiling face every morning.

Greg: Great cap!

Mystic: Nice Champ. I doubt many people actually notice the ribbon staining.

Today: Hairy Selentino

Began the day driving to our Columbus office in this 1950s Resistol that began it's servicable life in Paducah, KY (pop. 25,018 - saaa-lute!)

When I got to the office, I found this Milan Strat waiting for me:

I ordered this less than 48 hours ago. Talk about instant gratification!

Alan I hope you stopped at Abe's in Scranton, if you went that way. That Hommy's a honey!

Congrats Frunobulax! Happy, HAPPY, HAPPY!

Chamuc, you probably had the nicest hat in Muflone!

Sam the fuzz fits fine!

Mystic the ribbon has character!

Greg that great cap is giving me a flashback to the work of Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely, aka Op-Art! WOW!!

Joao what was that hat?

Daniele the Tiarda is very nice. Not a fan of straws? What about those classic vintage Milans?? (My favorites)

Mark that Caxston looks just amazing with everything. The PERFECT hat!

Bowlerman that Falcon Park looks delicious in the sunlight!

Perry! That Strat hat is where it's at...

We ALL wish we could wear 'em like you, Steve! (But you do have respectable inventory from which to chose...)

You WILL get there, Anthony. Already well on track with that sweet Bellagio you bought today!

That would have been 17 hours in the car!... no, it was via Jet Blue with an hour and a half delay in both directions. So no Abe's, but I did get to enjoy a ritual Christmas lunch with my favorite Barnes & Noble buyer at Eisenberg's Sandwich shop, which is my favorite NYC deli (today).

The delay on the way home gave me some time to browse in my favorite airport shop - Muji. I almost bought the panama hat on the left, which was about twice as fine and the same price ($55) as the one on the right. It was marked as toquilla straw, made in Ecuador but it sure looked like paper shantung.

For $55 they are BOTH beauties! ESPECIALLY the left one!

Speaking of modern straw hats, I went to the Hat Store in Houston today looking for a hat that would cope with the rising heat and humidity here. I knew they are primarily a western hat store, having descended from the old American Hat Company, but it's where vmtrevino recently purchased the Dobbs Milan he's been wearing lately. Unfortunately there wasn't a straw hat I liked, but they had Premier Stratoliners in Silverbelly, in my size, in stock.

So.......

I've been checking out the local hat stores for a western straw hat around here, gd. Just about impossible to find one that isn't shantung material. The Stratoliner looks good though.

We seem to be in for a stormy evening in DFW area. Been wearing my Black Cherry Penman today.
