Wrong reasons?
It appears he has his belt done up the standard way for right handed people.

The bar for balloon caps was raised to unattainable heights lately. Eight piece caps are now in league with the deadstock belted back peaked lapel lavender tweed suit and genuine sealskin reverse tapered hats.
I think this hat looks the part. It may not be an 80+ year old vintage, but for this type of cap to be modern it has to be a one size fits all, with the brand embossed on the outside, 'guaranteed to make you' sweatband, plastic lining etc. Maybe it is, but I think it looks authentic and matches the style of his outfit.

Men dress to the left, the belt's upside down. I'm an ambidexter and this is the only flaw I could find in his get-up.

This all comes from the time when men had dressing attendants who would buckle and button for them. The clothes were made to accomodate the dresser, not the man being dressed. The mechanics stuck long after the dressing attendant faded away.

Thanks for all your sweet comments, Guys and Gals!

Diamondback, you always make me smile, sweetie!

davestlouis, thanks for the compliment-- I like to think I hold myself to a higher dressing standard than my peers ;)

djgo-cat-go, truly an honor from such a snazzy dresser as yourself ;)

LelaViavonie, thanks doll! I'm rather fond of it myself. It's the first purchase I've made in quite a while to truly make me happy! I must admit, the addition of the blue ribbon was inspired by one of Zooey Deschanel's outfits in (500) Days of Summer (seen here) but I added the saddle shoes for a bit of vintage flair!

Yes, always to the left, and I'm English and right-handed. Maybe we should start an club for international lefties... although hopefully avoiding all the historical and economic baggage that usually gathers around clubs involving international lefties.

black wool beret, black belt, skirt (thrifted), black tights, black heeled ankle boots, grey cardigan (handknit).

i knit the sweater a size (or two) too large, and haven't found a way to wear it that looks halfway decent other than today (which explains the belt).

I love the jacket, but I think that it would look better with only the middle button buttoned. Could you humor me with a pic done so.:)

You decide...

Really loving the vintage blue collar look. Someday I'll have saved up enough for some Whites... and some Canes... and some Cushman....

Isn't crazy how it costs an arm and a leg now just to dress like a minimum-wage factory worker from back in the day?

Yesterday

It was a casual outfit, but I thought it was cute and was good for a day out. I wore my new cardigan, jeans, and black flats not shown in the picture. I love my cardigan, I wish I would have bought more in different colors! I went bowling with my fiance and then we went to the river to see if we could see the salmon spawning, but we couldn't.
