Today for formal friday and for evening.
Blueday2.jpg

Three piece blue pinstripe suit with blue stripe. Palm beach tie and bit too dark shirt :eusa_doh:

Great. This makes me wonder how double breasted suits got so ugly in the 1980s and 90s!

Cream knitted suit with chocolate brown details. Gloves, shoes, buckle and buttons are vintage; scarf and blouse modern; suit newly knitted in 30's style.

Today I wore my shabby old 30's tweed suit with my 30's beaver stetson and Harris tweed overcoat from the 20's-30's, 1940's bow-tie and modern stacy adams boots

The good Lady Badger and yers truly, snapped last nite by a pal at the 'club in a pub' bash I co-run, watching the rockabilly band we had on – I don't normally put a suit on to DJ, but we'd been at a friends' wedding all day and hadn't changed...

What a lovely photo Mr Badger, your good lady and yourself both look very handsome. I do so love the look of the clothes in this thread, especially the vintage looking gear.
I'm always baffled though as to where you fellows find this stuff. Are they old clothes you're lucky enough to find or are they new clothes. I wish I knew the secret!

Thanks for the kind words – like most FLers, especially the UK members, finding good clothes involves a fair amount of legwork and trawling t'interwebs, but also a nice amount of happenstance and *gasp* the odd item from mainstream retailers! The suit is vintage, I found it in a shop for £70, and then had the trousers taken in / let down / mock turn ups done by a tailor for another £15. The velour fedora's brand new and made in the UK, it was my birthday present to myself and I bought it from T Snook in Bridport. The shirt was 50 cents from a thrift store in Memphis, the 1940s tie deadstock from Ebay for $15, the tie bar $5 from the same source, and *shock* the shoes in the ASOS sale for £30... obviously, a gentleman does not enquire of his good lady the price of her garments, but her hairdresser seems awfully reasonable – no matter what she has done, I'm always told it cost 'a tenner'! :eusa_doh:

Well Mr Badger I feel inspired to search harder, in fact I quiet like the look
of the black trousers you mentioned in another thread.
I'm sure you're right thats probably are plenty of internet sites top find such things, but it's a matter of finding the blighters.

In fact Mr Badger it was a bit of luck reading your posts today. I'd never heard of ASOS, but now thanks to you I have just ordered the very same shoes!

Amazing outfit. My only dislike is the toe-box shape of the boots. They are much too round to compliment the elegance of the rest of the outfit.

Yes, it does take a bit of the old digital elbow grease, not to mention really thinking about what you actually want, especially if you haven't got a huge amount of money to order things from such august manfacturers as Mister Freedom, RRL, etc. However, the hunt is half the fun – these days, the 'trickle down' effect of 'fashion', and the rapid churn of culture, means that occasionally stylish and desirable items do make it your local High Street retailers (well, those who haven't gone bust!)... for instance, I make an occasional search for "tab collar shirt" on Google, limiting the results to the UK, and you could have 'knocked me down with a feather' when I saw that Next currently have a White Poplin Tab Collar Shirt for £20, undoubtedly due to Daniel Craig wearing a similar one (a pricey Tom Ford, I believe) in the latest Bond movie... mostly, it's a case of 'get it while you can / when you see it', then it's gone, and our fellow FLers in North America seem to have the same occasional luck with Target, et al...

Regarding the ASOS shoes, I'd advise treating them with a good neutral shoe cream when you get them, then taking them to your local independent cobbler and getting a rubber half sole and a better quality heel cap put on before wearing them outside – they're not the greatest, build-wise, but certainly are stylish and functional, not to mention a darn sight more affordable than a pair of Loakes or Trickers!

Mr. Badger top class!

Thank, you, Chasseur, coming from your good self, I take that as a high compliment! :)

And these shoes.

Guessing the jacket is seventies and the shoes are eighties. Not my favorite decades, but I thought that they weren't too outlandish.
