Sorry for getting fftopic:

What I wore today at the shop wasn't exactly classic or vintage, and is thus not pictured. It was just a black, 2-button, side vent peak with a green bengal stripe, with white cutaway collar & green solid tie to match. Needed a change up.

Anyways, I changed after work into a fresh, out-of-the-box cardigan from Jason at Thick As Thieves. I also ordered the cricket jumpers (an addiction of mine), which I will review after I wear it.

The construction is really well done, especially for the price. Good cotton, good fit, with a waist hem that isn't for the urban crowd (finally). The buttons on mine are MOP, which was an unexpected surprise. Be warned, it is slim fitting, but really comfortable.

Slim fit, cotton cable cardigan from Thick as Thieves.
Black & white neat dress shirt, Leo Rossi of Italy.
"Queens Guard" belt, black, by Fullum & Holt, from 319 Men
Jeans
Yorkshire Terrier

Different from usual, I know, but I thought it was worth a good review for a good product from good folks who deserve some good publicity.

Today's outfit is a little different. Not only is it Casual Friday at work, it's Packers Casual Friday here in Green Bay because of the game Sunday. Which I hate, because people wear all this tacky green and gold sportswear. But today, I decided to participate in my own way.

(No sportcoat because none of mine really works with this shirt, and the shirt deserves to speak without competition)

It is Arctically cold (albeit sunny) in Northeast Wisconsin today, which bodes interestingly for the football game tomorrow. I'm awfully glad I got my worn-out car battery replaced recently; today would have been the day I couldn't get the car to start. With a new battery, I had no problem.

Out and about in Appleton and Green Bay today. The two cities are 30 miles apart; I live in the former, work in the latter, and the highway between them is so well-traveled by me, it might as well be the hallway in my apartment.

I've got some blue tones going on today:

A Saturday Classic.

OK, that was yesterday, here's today (Saturday):

I would never have thought of putting a boat neck sweater under a blazer. Never. Then I saw Lucky's picture, and I thought "What is he doing"? But, the more I look at it, the more I realized how this is a very sophisticated look. This is exactly what I expect to see Cary Grant wearing while strolling along Rodeo Drive on a Saturday afternoon. Thanks for the lesson Lucky. I owe you one.

Doing some personal work today

Since it's cold out (and that's relative for you guys up north, Marty, PM, Dinerman, etc.!) and I took care of most paper work yesterday, I spent the day working on some personal stuff for myself and some other law students here at the house. And I watched some football.

Today, I'm also going to give part II of my review of the sweaters I got from Thick as Thieves this week. Today I wore the steel blue cricket jumper. It's a thin pullover, which is good for fit and temperature regulation for me. Very well made material, although obviously different from the cable knit of the cardigan. Good color, and nice fit. Very well done for the money. If you're looking for a great jumper with a good fit and a decidedly Gatsby-era/vintage feel (and also goes well with jeans), I recommend giving this one a shot.

fftopic: Maybe it's because I'm from the south, or because I'm just not that cool (get it, get it? lol) but I've never actually known anyone who curls. I love watching it, for some reason. Besides the bobsled, it's the one thing that I get excited about the Winter Olympics for.

On a less off-topic note, I like the sweater a lot. And the hat = nice flourish in an otherwise neutral sport setup.
