I'm no expert by any means, but I recently acquired this Stetson 100% Beaver hat on ebay for 50.00 & I'll share my opinions. Normally I tend to buy older hats that did not come with a "bar code" behind the sweatband but that "100% BEAVER" stamp got the best of me and for a price like that I figured why not.lol.
The felt does feel very nice and molds easily by hand without steam. I have quite a few stingy brims that I wear with the brim snapped up but for the most part I like 'em snapped down. To me this hat just looks odd snapped down, I reckon it has something to do with the flange used during it's construction. All in all it's a pretty nice hat I think.

Yes indeed, once I saw that 100% Beaver the show was over, I had to have it!

I actually like the shorter height and somewhat tapered fit on some of the newer Stetsons as much as the older/ taller/ straighter models... Im sure a "pure Beaver" in a new hat is still a nice decent felt...I can just never find $50 pure beavers in 7-1/4 lol

Very nice, Rick! As always, you did great work rehabbing it.
After Timmys new beaver hat, I thought Id throw this mornings older Whippet out here with a Modern Whippett I have. Close in color but definately different felt and shapes, but I like both...each in its own way.

Looks like one more potentially wet day... Time for one of the old semi beater hats just in case I cant bob and weave in between raindrops. This one an old Royal Stetson Whippitt-ish looking thing ( No tags inside except size tag when it came to live with me, so not sure exactly what it was) Added a new liner, cleaned up decently and has a nice older shape. One of my favorite errand-running hats.

Very Whippet-y and appears to be from prime Whippet era. Many whippets from the 50s only had Whippet marked on the liner and not on the sweat. I wonder Is it possible the original liner indicated Whippet… or did you get to see the original liner?
