Can't compete with the one Justin posted above, but still of interest. Dobbs fifteen, made under license in Italy. Grey with a black ribbon, size 57. Overwelt edge at 5,5cm and crown at 10cm at the pinch. Thin and sturdy (but not stiff) felt with a smooth hand. Liner with a cellophane crown patch. As soon as I see those, I'm as good as sold.
This one was very dirty so this is after its naptha bath and any other cleaning trick I could think of. Sold through Jonkhoff, Groningen, Holland (see last picture of their shop under construction in 1928).
I think it was either Cervo or Panizza who held the license (Daniele told me once, but I can't remember).

Panizza - Hat Corporation of America License

"In the meantime, an extraordinary shareholders' meeting, held on June 4, 1956, established a new capital increase, which went to L. 131,040,000. A subsequent resolution of October 27, 1960 pity definitively to L. 196.56 million. To look for new outlets and new conceptual combinations to reanimate the company, Dr. Gamba had meanwhile gone to the United States coming into contact with the Hat Corporation of America. At the end of the negotiations an agreement was reached granting the company Panìzza the right to manufacture Hat Corporation hats in its own factory, exclusively using its brands on the markets of fifteen European countries. The contract, stipulated on 30 April 1957, bears the signature of the managing director Dr. Antonio Gamba, for Panizza and of the president Bernard L Salesky, for the Hat Corporation. The duration of the commitment is three years, but if not canceled at least one year before it will be tacitly renewed from year to year. With this exclusive contract, Hat Co. refuses to sell directly the products bearing its own "Dobbs" and "Knox" brands in the European countries listed therein. The sale, by Panizza, will start in 1959 with a few thousand pieces."

Here is my very first Dobbs. 1950s Dobbs Twenty size 7 5/8. 5 1/2" open crown, 2 3/8" brim. Brown with Guild Edge. Felt is in a very good condition, like brand new only with a little vintage smell :)
Wind Trolley is only decorative to my surprise, I doubt that it's original to the hat since there is a slight color difference to the ribbon. I will keep the trolley on the hat anyway since I don't use them normally but I really like the look of a wind trolley on the hat. Underneath the sweatband and on top of the liner is a foil, maybe Cellophane? The sweatband also says "Leisure Flex". According to the original patent it is a device behind the sweatband to resize the hat to the customers head but seems like it's no longer in the hat :(

Very nice Dobbs Herr Ray! I have it's brother, only without the wind trolley. The Twenty and the guilde edge (their name for a Cavanagh Edge) are the top features of this beauty. Way to make an entrance to the Lounge. Welcome!

Thanks. Till now I only had one Felt VS, one Milan VS from Art. Also a Silverbelly Optimo 1000. My first vintage and I gotta say this hat can definitely compete with the Optimo. Hope I can get a Forty or One-Hundred in my size someday

Something we all aspire to. Good selection of hats. We now need to see you wearing them on the What Hat Are You Wearing Today thread.

1940s Dobbs Rainbow, with an embroidered liner, a snazzy ribbon, and very bizarre brim stitching. See for yourself.

Seems like Rainbow models this early are difficult to come by. This one's a bells n' whistles hat, definitely. Hope you guys like it.

Like it? I love it! What a find! The unusual attributes gives it real character too. No catch and release on that hat.

WOW what a find!
Thanks Bill, that means a lot coming from someone who has hats such as you do.

Totally. Didn't know what to expect from this Dobbs, but the acquisition was well worth it.

Good get, Mondo. That brim treatment is unique, and the 5 7/8" crown is great.
