I am not picky. I am very picky. But yeah, my current PB N1 is my go to jacket for the forest. It is indestructable, I have room for body warmth trapped and I can layer. It lets vapor from heating up during work pass through, I never feel damp and cold in it. I just don't appear with it where the likelyhood exists that I come under the eyes of a dark princess who eats men in awful looking coats.

After getting a taste for N1 Deck Jackets thanks to TFL, I thought I'd give the Pike Brothers ones a try.
I'm going to keep the Omaha and return the Elephant skin.
For those interested, I have measured both jackets in L.
The Elephant Skin matches the measurements on the website exactly, whereas the Omaha is a tad smaller than stated. Fortunately, the sleeves are not shorter, but slightly narrower, mainly in the P2P, which suits me.
I think both jackets are cool and if the Elephant fitted me better, I would keep both.

First the Omaha. The fabric is slightly darker in colour, tending towards gold. Looks better in real life than in the pictures. And the fabric is softer than the Elephant, which makes it drape better.

I still have a size 42 in olive in my wardrobe. It's still new and unworn. I only messed up the stencil and caused tiny stains at the letters. Plus I removed the Navy Contract label for reasons I can't remember. But it has the proper buttons as I swapped the originals on this one also. You can have it for free when you pay for the shipping costs. I need space in my wardorbe anyway.
@CatsCan was generous enough to give me this jacket in 42 for free. It was my introduction to deck jackets, so to speak, and I was hooked.
Now that I have a Pike Brothers as an upgrade, I would like to pass the Mil Tec on to the next person who wants to try out Deck Jackets.
I will be happy to send them on in return for the shipping costs.
@CatsCan Thanks again. I hope you don't mind if I turn it into a forum jacket.

@MrProper As practical and warm as the jacket is.. It might be the least flattering outwear garment I've seen on you. There goes my hope to look halfway decent / cool (in terms of fit) in my incoming Pike Brothers waxed khaki N1. If it fits well enough in other areas I might even consider tailoring it in the waist.
By the way, I figured out that Pike Brothers had (at least) two very distinct N1 pattern / sizing iterations, so be very careful if buying used without measurements provided. I got burned by buying an XS of the older smaller iteration because I looked at the measurements for the newer bigger iteration and it looked fine on paper.

I believe @CatsCan when he says that the Mil-tec has the best cut out there, and the Pike Brothers one of the worst. Your Mil-tec looks much better than either of these Pikes, @MrProper . But in terms of bang for the buck in terms of warmth, the Pikes may be better.

I think this is currently still due to the fact that the fabric of the PB is still quite stiff. The dimensions are not far apart. The MilTec is slightly longer. I like the short PB. And I like the materials better.
But let's see. Of course, it's not a tight jacket like I'm used to. But that's not my M-65 either.
I'll see how I get on with it. For now, I like it and it definitely looks better in real life than in the pictures.

I haven’t looked through this entire thread, but if you want a more modern fit on an N1, I highly recommend giving Iron Heart A go.

Nice thing is that if it doesn’t work out you can return it for minimal cost.

Iron Heart N1 is my dream N1, but it is too expensive for me (even used) for now. I'm not THAT commited to N1's yet. Maybe in the warmer season people will be selling them cheaper, I'll keep an eye out for one.

This is so true. I love leather jackets, but the deck jacket looks just as cool while being super warm able to be worn in any condition. If I had to choose one jacket, I think it would be the N1, or at leasted tied with my A2 Flight Jacket.
