Using interviews with the last few surviving veterans, archive footage and dramatic reconstruction, this documentary brings to life the forgotten story of the ATA"

Hopefully it will be repeated on SBS 2 in the near future if anyone misses it

Is anybody else aware of this? Royal Randwick racecourse is undergoing a $150 million upgrade & will be demolishing the ladies tea rooms, built in 1914 & a rare example of Indian pavilion style architecture. I'm just disgusted. Splendid, taxpayers money being spent destroying more of their own architectural heritage. The fact it isn't heritage listed merely illustrates how inadequate our heritage listings are. Not that it would make much difference, the heritage listings are ignored if the developers have enough money.

I recently found the National Archives database where I discovered my Grandfather & Great Grandfathers service records (the original service records are scanned, it was lovely seeing Grandpas handwriting again). Log in as a guest, enter your family name & specify the search dates, you might be surprised what you find.

My wife discovered that the Uncle she never met was a pilot of a Halifax shot down at night over Antwerp.

His third mission. The place and time of the explosion. No survivors. The names of the crew. Description of effects left behind.

The pleading letters from home for answers. It took a year to confirm.

Site of the grave. His duty done. In gods care.

Amazing what you will learn.

We will never forget.

Thanks for this Lolly. I too have found my grandfather's service record.
