Something for the Melbourne Loungers. I was in Smart Alec on Wednesday and found out that Lisa Heathcote (Miss Heathcote) of City Hatters passed away earlier this year.

Lisa was always one of the most exceptionally friendly people I knew and someone even a casual visitor to city hatters would have known and liked. Its a real tragedy.

After 93 years clothing retailer Fletcher Jones has been placed in to receivership.
A documentary was made some time ago about the company, Fabric of a dream. It's worth tracking down & watching.

A very interesting doco

This has been coming for a long time. Trying to compete with cheap imports and maintain a high standard of product has taken its toll. So sad, I bought my first custom fitted suit there

Thanks for the notification Lolly.

I always associate Fletcher Jones with multiple shades of brown and huge flaired trousers. I guess that's what they had in the first of their ads I saw.

Sad news.

In case anyone in Oz is interested, the December issue of the 'The Australian Gourmet Traveller' has recipes for a 1922 themed New Year's Eve party.

There are ideas for both food and drinks.

There is no narrative with the article so I have no idea as to the historical accuracy of what's printed.

Hoping SBS screens 'Dinner for One' on new years eve....

I saw this for the first time on DVD the other day after hearing so much about in Germany.....and whilst it's comical I just don't get what makes it the cult classic it seems to have become in some parts of the world.
