[Fly Boy]

I'm currently armed with a full-bore 1930's Cocktail shaker, bottle of Gordons and bucket of ice, beside the Middleton Farm in the Aberdare Hills here. It's a dirty old job out here, but someone's got to do it

Brilliant ensemble!

Makes me wish I'd bought the Wolesley helmet I was eyeing up a few months ago. I'd never have the chance to wear it here, but the next time I make it out to North Africa I fully intend upon a belted bush jacket and sun helmet!

That looks like great fun! Wish we could get more of those sorts of gatherings together over here. *sigh*

We have another in two weeks. It was hard to get everyone to look at the camera, do to the fact that a Canuck and a Steerman were doing hammerrolls right above us.

Actually they are custom boots and you can specify the exact height you want. The above photo shows boots of approx. 17 inches high, which is a fairly typical height for equestrian boots. They are high enough to protect but not interfere with mobility. You do have a good point however. I once ordered a pair of repro military riding boots, only to discover that they were about 19 inches high and dug into the backs of my knees. They were promptly returned.

I picked up the Safari Jacket from J. Peterman. Looks allright. Designed for a trim fit and the sleeves are a good length. There was a tab on the coat that could button closed. IT was right below the notch on the collar. I removed it as I thought it looked silly to me. I like the jacket but I also plan on purchasing a couple of the other brand jackets over time.

I was looking at Duluth Trading Company's pants and found this:

It looks a LOT like a safari jacket, but is out of (I assume) much heavier material. The whole 15 pockets thing has me considering one for my shooting coach activities. Anybody got one of these?

Hi guys! I just picked up some neat trousers from a local used clothing store for $7.50.

At a glance I thought they were old military, but when I got home I found this:

Anyone have any ideas what era these Scout pants are? All the ones I've seen had the red piping on the pockets. These have nothing like that.

The next one will be in November, fewer snakes and scorpions. Since we have been going a lot of the guys have started dressing as well. One of these fellas was working a BBQ grill all day, but wanted to be dressed. The kid in the overalls actually works on the vehicles. It is a really neat event, I will have to post some of the plane pictures... that is the point of the "fly in" afterall...

I don't have that particular jacket, but it looks good. Lots of pockets. I have this one below:

Mine doesn't have as many pockets, but it has kept me surprisingly warm this winter skiing in the mountains! Of course, I layered underneath a sweater and flannel shirt, but it did it for me.

Bert, they are probably a leader's uniform. I searches our old photos...I work for Boy Scouts. Looks like probably 40-60's possibly. The scout uniforms did have the red piping on the pockets. I'll let you know if I find anything else.
