I think I'm going to get me one. I had one of there Cowboy Hats not too long ago but my brother took it from me. That was a real nice hat. Anyway the Distribution Center is about 30 minutes from my house and since they are offering fedoras now I thought I'd have a look see. Anyone here got one?

Instead of shantung straw the hats are made of braided palmleaf sewn in rows. It makes for a very durable hat. Arnold had one on in the boat scene in "Collateral Damage". The hats can get wet and not fall apart like some do.

I've had one for about 2 yrs now and really like it. The one thing I like about it is that as stated you can get it wet with out any problems and it keeps it shape and your head cool! For the price you can't go wrong.

I have one. If you ever want to change the shape of it, you can get it wet and rehape it. When it it wet, it is very pliable. When it dries, the shape will stay. That is what is cool about Palm straw.

Some other straw hats look nicer, but it is a very versitile hat.

Biltmore Bob -- I've had one of their cowboy hats for several years and it's a great, serviceable hat. Actually left it open crown. Thanks for posting, as I had no idea they were doing fedoras. Appears I now know where I'll be getting a new summer hat (and I won't have to save for months and months and hide money from my bride like I will when I eventually can get a Montecristi....)

Sharpetoys: You make a good point regarding the Palm Leaf hats. The one I have is durable, but it is by no means cool, meaning it does not allow air to move through it. Hmmmm.

If he has the hat in stock here in the USA the shipping is $6.00 or so. If he has to get it from Ecuador for you the shipping is more.

I usually tell him what i'm looking for and wait till he gets it in stock.
Hope this helps! :cool2:

Well, the nice people on this site get an incredible price.

If you want an ebay hat, yes, it is the cost of the hat and the Regular airmail shipping or Express Mail shipping...I don't set the prices in Ecuador for the post.

If you want a hat sent up here in a bunch of hats the shipping is nominal.

Anyone who has bought a hat here, especially a better hat, knows that I throw shipping into the price....because we are all members here.

Went and looked at them today. Very disapointing to say the least. Very heavy with a cloth hatband. I will not be getting one. I have a Milan straw summer hat that will do me fine. I also whent to Miller Hats (main store in Houston) and looked at their new line of Guerra hats from Italy. What nice hats. I compared them to Borsolinos at the store and they seemed nicer, to me at least. I liked a 2 inch brim dark gray for $150. The blaks were nice too. I think they are a beaver/rabbit blend. The clerk did not know for sure. But they were really soft.
