Something of a Milestone - 20,000 Fedora Lounge Members.

From a few guys who wanted to talk about more than bullwhips and canvas bags, we have reached 20,000 members worldwide. I think MK created, and we've built, something very good.

Wow. I know this place has grown so much since I've been here, but even 20k seems staggering.

It's evident that the success of this board relies in part on the excellent job our bartenders do in monitoring and assisting our discussions, and making this a safe and fun place to share our common interests.

20,000 members is impressive. The lifespan is impressive. What's most impressive is that after so many years, there are so many active posters. I've been on a fair share of message boards - started some myself. It's really hard to maintain activity.

Just look at the bottom of the main page. That number is also higher than ever.
People's lives and interests change, as does the population of The Fedora Lounge . Fortunately, those changes have only meant growth for us.

Hear hear! What a great job the bartenders do here. And to all those posters who've shared so much information and knowledge over the years, thank you very very much. There are too many names to mention here, but you've given inspiration to a great many members and no doubt innumerable serial lurkers as well!

The number of members and the sheer scope of the topics discussed really seem to give the place a great deal of vibrancy. Many forums are so limited in their topics that either they run out of things to say or they become taken over by 'personalities' who just want to talk about themselves (COW anyone? ) I've not been here long but I'm very impressed with how civil people are without much sign of moderation.
