I would hate to waste good scotch on a philistine!

Gentlemen, gentlemen, if it isn't at least 18 years old, you're nothing but pedophiles ("spiritually" speaking) ... :D

Shoot fire, jp, you're no fun at all! I think I deserve style points for the play on words ... :eusa_doh: I don't actually give a rat's behind about the age of anybody's scotch. :cheers1:

Why the paranoia about posts being removed?
Why is what MissNeecerie said wrong? I view it as MissN merely alerting us to the fact that there is another manical rambling thread and equally worthless to start down that road again. Nothing snobbish about that right?

As for "this post being remove too.." I think it time we give that whining tired old line a break. I notice there exists a minor group of disgruntled Loungers that think the moderators are somehow Draconian. These members jump into certain threads, contribute next to nothing in the thread except to dare the mods to remove their post to justify their skewed viewopoint.
This is the perfect example of Anti-Moderator Snobbery. :)

I am still waiting to read about these much hinted about snobs of the Lounge...
Very few Loungers know other members enough to make that call.
No paranoia here. You may be reading too much into my post. I was merely pointing out that what she said was unintentionally funny in relation to the thread's title. I understand WHY it would be removed, but wanted to clarify that it was just jovial in nature. Sorry if it came off as paranoia.

We're not disgruntled. The Loungers you refer to -- I assume including me -- merely think this place could stand to loosen up a bit once in a while. It can get a bit frustrating when posts meant as jokes (even with smilies) are automatically taken as personal digs or quips and are removed, or a whole message is deleted when it had something that couldn't be considered abrasive at all.

I have nothing personal against you. You should know I respect you, or at least I hope you've inferred that from my past posts towards you. I also have nothing personal against the Lounge at large. Far be it for me to... I've learned a craptonne since I came here and appreciate it infinitely. My own personal style has developed tenfold in just a year.

Once again, we need to consider the text versus speech issue and not automatically assume everything is intended as abusive. And, once again, I think me and a lot of people here would get along great were we to meet in person.

I'm sure if you look in this thread, I never actually said anyone was snobbish. All of my posts here are either honest discussion, or playing along with the jovial nature this thread has taken.

[stumbles and falls off soapbox]

I think Mr. Epstein refers to it as automotive snobbery. Let's get the terms right my good man. :p ;)
You've owned a few people wagons eh? Figures. ;) :p

Ah, but the term "automotive snobbery" is so limiting! Many motorcyclists and bikers practice highway snobbery all the time, as do truckers, to name a couple of other highway users.

Unfortunately, it's been a long time since I owned a VDub Bus. I prefer the earlier split-screen models and have always wanted a 23-window version with the sunroof. I think having one of those would be a hoot! Alas, as "collector's cars" they're now out of my price range.

Regards,
Tom

P.S. Before hitting send I decided to check the ol' dictionary for the precise meaning of "automotive." Turns out it's not so limiting as it sounds after all. I therefore drop my argument along those lines and resort to "Mine's funnier!" lol

Aha! Have you against the ropes my pugilistic friend, eh? ;) :p lol lol lol
The neighbor down the street from my mother's house has a VW bus parked in the weeds---lawn weeds not the kind you are thinking of. :p I'd be glad to get rid of it. Where should I send it? ;) :p

What exactly is the lounge about????

The Golden Era or Snobbery?:D

I had my fair share:)

Now this is some great synergy for it started a cho cho train of thought that may pay dividends (No JP not your kind).
To wit (nitwits): As far as research has revealed The Golden Era is not a term generally used to refer to the Years Between the Wars or to the Art Deco period. The term golden age is often used to describe any period when the flowering of some activity occurred. For eg, 1873-84 saw the golden age of the trombone. Same for Classic Style. When googled the magazine comes up. Hmmm

A provisional hypothesis. The term golden era seems to be part of a long term marketing strategy by Key Publishing.
(1) to stimulate popularity in artifacts of those years in order to market related items.
(2) to inculcate the fundamental values of those times & to build a phalanx of obsequious followers in order to establish a new hierarchial order. This idea is supported by the fact that a member of the dominant coalition uses an iconic figure of snobbery as his zine's title. I'll give y'all some time (perhaps a nano sec) to figure out who I am referencing.

lol lol lol ;) :p:eek:

Congrats. You finally provided an example of Snobbery in the Lounge. :eusa_clap
I have been waiting for this since your first post. It took you long enough to summon the courage to spit it out.
