Is this a knot planned tie? It looks like the knot would be red with white polka dots. That would be nice. :D

It's a knot-planned. I don't like wearing dark colored shirts, which is what this would look best on. What's the name of that type of material with in inlaid design? This is a very 'shiney' necktie.

I think they say the pattern is a jacquard. The tie is likely some type of rayon which would have been used a lot back then.
I am not a fan of dark colored shirts either. I think this would look fine on a cream or even a white shirt though. The contrast just wouldn't be as great. I don't think it would look like the red pattern is just floating on the white shirt. :p
I think Cohama did a run of similar tie patterns with a large white area that they advertised as white patterns in 1950 if I remember the ads right.

19 ties for $6 from Goodwill. :D

Cutter Cravats on the left and middle, unknown on the right. The tie on the left is made of acetate:

Interesting detail on the middle one:

I own several "Sugar and Spice" ties but have never seen a "Royal" kind:

Geez! With luck like that you should look in your other hand for $5. ;) :p
Those are great!

There were more (including several Palm Beach ties) but were too badly gone to salvage.

 More?! How badly gone is gone? You can always send them to Widebrim. ;) :p
Serriously, they would have to be pretty moth eaten to get away from me. :D

They were either horribly eaten, ripped, badly stained/faded or any combination of the three.

From the Ames one. Though several weeks ago I scored about 10 vintage ties from the Boone one. Boone can be a crapshoot but occasionally you'll find a gem.

btw, let me know when you're ever in the area again.
