You know your ties unconsciously. A regular Palm Beach tie is usually a boring stripe pattern. Once in a while you find a nice print in bold colors like this. These are a rarity to find. It lasted about ten minutes on eBay before someone hit the buy it now.

I got this on Ebay for £4.

I don't normally buy American ties but i liked the simplicity of this one.

JP, i don't ordinarily like pictorial ties, but with that background that tie can't fail.

I wasn't certain it was American until I received it. I just saw it, liked it and put in the only bid. It's a tie I might not wear very regularly, but i will wear it.

Don't think I've shown this before. Bold Look era, no tags, likely rayon/acetate. Nice, active design, and not too wide. May look hand-painted, but it's actually silk-screened.

JP, i don't ordinarily like pictorial ties, but with that background that tie can't fail.

The fact that it is a rare design that I have never seen before also helps.

^^It is to laugh...It's only 3 1/2" wide. I forget to tell you, JP, that when I went to the L.A. Vintage Bazaar last month, I was wearing a wide tie. When I met Marc Chevalier, he stared at my neckwear and exclaimed, "You're not wearing a thin tie? James Powers would be shocked!" So word gets around...

for some reason, brown and orange color combo ties held their own back in the day. I wonder why back then, and not today?
