I'm new here, but I like what I see.

One of mine:

It's a custom made dark blue pinstripe

Welcome : All questions I am afraid - who made it?

Do you have any other pictures of it in a brighter light -

Full view with you standing front and rear
Similar without coat on
inside of the coat -

These should enable everyone to see it properly as is quite common here.

So I've been working on this for a while...

Navy Super 140s two button peak, side vent, hacking with ticket, red silk lining, flat front trouser, no back pockets.

It's very fitted, I know, but I wanted to something that was for fun.

Thoughts?

Looks interesting, who made it? - do you have other views showing the fit of the trousers (full standing) and with and without the coat.

I assume that you are left handed the inner pockets are unusual (though as I have them I must admit in a cuurrent day suit - different in vintage styles) - do you have the same on the left side?

Sorry, all I have are some random shots and this was the best I found. I'll see if I can take some more pictures next time I wear it.

And I only wear suits made by my mom as I want my suits to be perfect.

Thanks for the interest

I saw this three-piece at a local suit shop called "Dad and Lad" about a month ago. I liked it but it was too much at $240 and too large at 44R, 38 trouser waist.

Well, today I was browsing around at Goodwill today and saw it, still with the $240 price tag. I couldn't miss an opportunity like that and bought it for $6. It's never been worn, the trousers are still unhemmed.

Moral of the story: check your local thrift shops regularly! :D

That is truly a wonderful suit. It fits you perfectly! I like the tie/knot/collar that you've chosen, as well. Is it bespoke?

Thanks Fu Manchu, Metropd. I appreciate the good feedback. It is, indeed, bespoke. Hopefully it's a forerunner of some other ideas I'd like to run with!

It may be an '70s suit with a bizarro trippy lining, but it was odd enough, with the peak lapels and the shark gill pleating, to make me like it three bucks worth. I guess we'll see when I get it how it looks.

Any opinions?

Strange, but I kind of like it.

The lapels have tons of belly to them.

I like the back a lot more than the front. the front looks too seventies, but the back ha a kind of late sixties modis look like the custom suit above.

My fear is that it is a textured polyester as suits of this style often are.

Neither the style or fabric should disuede someone who likes them. In fact, i am surprised it did not bring more as funky seventies suits like this with interesting details often bring a good price due to kitch seventies factor.

At any rate, certainly more interesting than a boring cheap suit.

I'll have to see pictures of it on you to fully grasp how good of a deal it is. ;)
Three bucks ain't (kids don't use ain't--I just use it here for emphasis) going to kill anybody. :p

I think it's very different and unique and cool. I can definitely see you sporting that, Dinerman.

Looks like something that would be in Blade Runner. Holden wore a pretty cool, classic three piece at the beginning of the movie, but it was a grey notch lapel. (Before Leon put a couple holes in it.)

A rather good idea, to Blade Runner-up one's look with that suit. That might work.

(I keep thinking it would be nice to find a forum like Fedora Lounge but that was retro-future, but I'm afraid too many styleless geeks might find it and get on it. It's better for us to just talk about retro-future here, I think.)

It's got some definite things going for it. High gorge, so I can get away with wearing my short '30s ties with it. It's also pretty short in the body. The sharks gill pleats are nifty. While not super fitted, it has a distinct nip in at the waist.
