Here's my light trenchcoat

This pic was taken this weekend. We tried to achieve a certain film noir look. 30's.. Like "M" by Fritz Lang.

Here's one in color to show its true nature.

The hat is a light gray despite the picture showing it black

The pictures were taken by my love Jirina.

I removed the hardware and loops for the shoulder boards and switched the buttons out on this '60s era German overcoat.

Opinions?

Now I'd say it certainly looks much more civilian. It reminds me a lot of Magnoli's "Chicago Overcoat"

Hello Dinerman, looks excellent! Great job. Really like the way it sits on the back. I'd prefer brown buttons, but then I don't wear black much.

Yep, brown leather buttons would make it lose a bit more of the military look.
Those old army greatcoats, from all countries, have a great shape to them.

You can't beat the price on them, either. Super heavy wool and I think this one only set me back ten or fifteen bucks.

This is my "go to" coat; my fav.

A nice Stratojac I picked up last fall.

...and the search continues for a nice 44S herringbone or Gabardine.

New overcoat.

While on a recent roadtrip I stopped at a little junk shop and bought this fantastic overcoat for cheap. Has a '36 or '39 union tag. It weighs probably 10 pounds and the fuzzy fur is a bluish-gray. I can't wait for winter!

That looks like Astrakhan wool...expensive anytime.

I snagged this Cashmere double breasted at a local thrift shop,.....does it look too big on me? It's a 44R and I wear a 42R jacket,....when I bought my last sports jacket, (not a thrift store), the man that ran the place told my that I needed a 44R overcoat,.....says he;
"You buy your overcoats 2 inches larger than your jackets,"

I ain't too sure......what do y'all think?

*edit* Crud!! I just now noticed I forgot to button the interior button,......it won't hang right if I don't forget that!

CC41 (40's) English overcoat (blue with red windowpane)

Nice 'high' armholes create a very fitted look with this piece. The coat is tapered in, once again giving that custom hour-glass shape so associated with this era. The weave to the wool is just gorgeous and the photos don't do it justice. An enameled/painted metal buckle adorns the coat belt.
Single vent to the rear.
