That's a really pretty and quick fix! Lovely fabric. And if you wanted to go further you could even add padding and maybe some buttons like you see in those old upholstered headboards.

Way to go ladies!

You all make such lovely things!

Welcome to the lounge, Rachel. When I first saw the frame style I immediately thought of one of those padded head boards.

My grandma gave me this embroidery pattern and once I finished it, after a long while, I found this left over organza and made my own ruffle. And I recycled an old pillow so it is kind of lumpy but it gives it character.:)

I do plan on sewing some skirts in the not-so-distant future, but I've had a lot of design ideas for jewelry lately. :)

Thanks, guy and gals :)

:eek:fftopic: Well, kind of :) I know some people are vintage-purists, and I totally respect that. As of late it seems like more and more members here are putting the emphasis on how vintage others are as opposed to how much we enjoy the vintage items we are able to incorporate into our lives. It's the lack of mutual respect for those of us who chose to enjoy both the wonders of the modern world and those of the vintage world that I'm getting a little fed up with.

At any rate, thanks for the comments!

I made some baby blankets for my friends' little girl's first birthday this past weekend. It was the first time I had really tried to embroider anything, I think they came out cute. Sorry for the massive pic.

Hello. My name is Scott, I am a man, and I want to show off. :)

Upholstered my grandmother's 1930's chair last weekend.

Bravo Scott! Looks fantastic! Now sit and relax a spell...

Please elaborate on easy tiki boxes!! *drool drool*
Start by recycling a cigar box or any small wooden box. Preferably one that already has hinges and latch to save some time. Add a bamboo purse handle, purchased from a craft or sewing supply store. Sand the wood if needed. If you have painting skills, use acrylics and shellac. If not, cut fabric scraps (or labels or decals) to size then use a mixture of water and glue to decoupage. I get really creative and silly with it sometimes. I'm thinking about throwing a purse making party.
I sell these faster than I can make them.

...more jewelry...

It is amazing what the changing of the seasons can inspire us to make...

These two items were made to enter in the Indiana Harvest Time Fall Challenge for the Indiana Etsy Street Team. Aside from actually making the pieces, we had to explain what Indiana Harvest time means to us, which was another fun part of the creative experience.
