More from 'Tiger Bay':

This is a rather bold suit:

So Bogarde's jacket also appears in 'Pool of London' and 'Passport to Pimlico':

And then the tie reappears in 'Dance Hall' (1950) worn by Bonar Colleano:

It doesn't end there: This tie appears in 'Dance Hall':

But was also in 'Pool of London', (worn by Earl Cameron who was playing Bonar Colleano's shipmate):

Here's something a little recherchez that I thought would spark some interest here on the lounge. Found this whilst looking for something entirely different on oldpictures.net (fantastic resource). As far as I'm concerned, that frock suit is the bee's knees.

I *love* that coat. Dang. Great look. ;)

This is taken from the 1935 movie "tit for tat". My question would be if the jackert is from the 1920s to give them an outdated (comical) look just like the collars?

Of course I ask because of the long vent. Would strike me quite odd for 1935.

it does have more of a 20s look. the strange thing is that Laurel and Hardy nearly always look outdated (fashion wise) so that jacket actually makes him look a bit more fashionable than usual.

It's on youtube but low quality. I think the jackets does have a beltback and an inverted pleat in the middle but I could be mistaken.

From Scarface...quite a fabric. As usual the gangster boss wears the flashy stuff and doesn't show a refined taste. George Raft as his sidekick is dressed in a neater and more subtle way.

The "Knize lapel" is rather a "broken" notch lapel. I figure that this kind of lapel existed already in the tens and twenties and may have gotten the name after the fact.

Qirrel's Swedish stroller has such a lapel.

Yes, one could also describe it as a "peak that hasn't grown up". :D To me something between a notch and a peak somehow, since they slope slightly downwards.
