Cary Grant in The Woman Accused. Tweed suit with patch pockets and it looks like a double breasted waistcoat. I want to find this movie so that 1) I can see a Cary Grant film I haven't yet and 2) to get the details of this suit.

I've seen Bringing Up Baby, but not Mr Lucky yet.

The suit I would wear in a heartbeat (and it will probably go on my to-do list when I've perfected my db waistcoat pattern).

Not a suit but a rather rad sport coat / leisure jacket thingy. With zipper pockets.

This made me laugh. I know what you mean.

:D We understand each other. Of course I don't really "need" it. Rather "want" it (along with many other things).

Do you have time to sew at the moment?

Not really - at least not for more ambitious projects. I try to continue a number of projects then and now when I have the time. Mostly I do alterations on newly bought stuff, in other words letting out legs, sleeves and waistbands. Otherwise I'm piling up fabrics and ingredients until I find enough time (and energy) to pull through a project (and do it right). High-up on my to do list would be first a bunch of solid trousers to wear with odd jackets. But a zipper-pocket sport-coat with fancy back is also a must have (I have the fabric and zippers at least).

Bela Lugosi has a nice three piece belted back tweed suit with patch pockets for the first half of Black Cat

Sorry I could not find a photo of the back of the jacket...

So here are a couple of screen grabs:

Quite an arched yoke:

and the back in action:

He also wears a stunning art-deco styled robe:

Bela is rather more sedately dressed in the second half of the film:

Also in the film is David Manners. I like the very high pin on his collar:

Interestingly, he wears this suit for most of the film:

Note the peak-lapels.

In one scene he enters the bedroom wearing that suit, only to sit on the bed wearing a suit with rather unusual lapels (it's not a style I've seen before):

Seconds later he reappears in the corridor wearing the peak lapels!!!

I love the zipper sports coat thingy.

Here's a cool jacket from La Jour Se Leve

Very dandyfied outfit, though he pulls it off so casually (or is it that the black and white tones the whole thing down?):
Patterned, pleated peak lapeled jacket, patterned vest, patterned shirt. At least he isn't wearing a patterned tie too!
