James Cash Penney.

Mr. Penney's stores made a tidy little profit off me as a young man. One of our locations had a gentleman in the Men's department who was old school. He guided me through many a suit purchase when I first had to "dress for work." Too bad what has befallen it over recent years; however, it's still doing better than Sears.

I love all your Appaloosa references, HJ. Great flick I've seen every time I catch it on. I'm hot or cold on Rene. Double extra hot in this one. What a Bitch. Everett is the man.
I've read all 3 books & have this one on DVD. By my comment I'm not endorsing her in the part. I was actually remembering how Jeremy Irons would pronounce "Mrs. French" & tip his hat to her.

Was it common to do mug shots with fedoras?
As I understand it, it was up to the agency (i.e., local, county, state police, etc.) to decide for themselves. If the person being arrested was known to regularly wear hats, eyeglasses, sunglasses, etc., they were often photographed wearing those items in order to make it easier for witnesses to identify them in the photos.

The 3 Miller brothers, Joe, Zack and George who made CSA Colonel George Washington Miller, their father's Ranch 101 famous. Brother's Wilkes Booth & John Fish had died as boys.

In 1931 during the Great Depression & after his brothers had died, Zack was forced to file bankruptcy on the ranch. It was never to be the same again.
