No, according to Dave Hansen, the former general manager of Langlitz Leathers , the Yah-Ta Hey jackets were made by Cal Leather.
The heaviest leather jacket I came across so far is not Yah-Ta Hey nor Langlitz. It is ‘Boss’ Double motorcycle jacket made by a small shop called Big Twin in Tokyo. They build their jacket from high grade vegetable tanned cowhide. It is apparently heavier and thicker than Yah-Ta Hey. I ordered a custom made jacket which is a copy of Vanson Suzuki Marauder jacket but it was so heavy and stiff that I never wore it at all.

edit: Just saw pricing. I need another Neo meme.
Yes this is it. The leather they use is thicker and heavier than Yah-Ta Hey.But the price is ridiculously expensive. Langlitz custom Columbia is about $ 1000 so the Big Twin Boss is 2.5 times the price of Columbia. But it is less expensive than Langlitz in Japan.

You should keep in mind that no one in Big Twin speaks English, not even to a level of Japanese junior high school.

Nothing about them resembles any of the Cal Leather jackets I’ve seen and owned. On the other hand they share many features of my Langlitz jackets and look quite similar.
It seems unlikely to me that Cal would build a jacket that so closely resembled that of another maker rather then their own LAPD style but I could be wrong.

Agreed it seems odd for a big brand, though the Japanese market has always been awash with "tribute" jackets (See Ozzy, Adict, 666 and many others doing exact repops of Lewis, for instance). I suppose it's not impossible the factory could have taken on such a custom order. I know of at least one leather brand that does much more work for other labels than it sells under its own.

Reminds me of a Lost Worlds. Not that it looks like one of their models, more that it looks so heavy and manly. :p I really like it, though.

The Big Twin ‘Boss’ looks shorter than Yah-Ta Hey motorcycle jacket but it isn’t. Because the body trunk of the Boss is a trapezoid with the longer side in the top, whereas the Yah-Ta Hey jacket has a barrel shaped trunk like the MA-1 jacket, the Boss tends to appear shorter. As for me, I prefer the shape of the Yah-Ta Hey.

Thanks, I can speak enough Japanese to ask the basic questions and order if I like what I see :)

The best thing about Big Twin Boss jacket is that YKK zippers are used whereas Yah-Ta Hey uses Talon zippers. YKK zippers are far better and rugged than Talon zippers.

I made about ten different styles for Yah-Ta Hey years back and still have all the original patterns. I made a few styles in a 5oz heavy cowhide but most were 4.25oz.
Yes, my leather coat which I ordered in the past was made from 5 oz cowhide. It is so stiff and heavy that I can’t even bend my sleeves. It was in the days that Scarecrow Company was considered as the supplier of best leather garments available besides Big Twin. Today, I became smart enough to wear Pakistan made ultra light leather jackets.

Recently I came across double motorcycle jacket made by Lost World. The jacket is made from 5 oz moose skin. I don’t know what moose skin is like, but as far as the heaviness if the leather is concerned, it might be the heaviest leather jacket in market.

If you're talking about the blue and green one, it is not my heaviest jacket but not far off :)
