Alan, I think the KB&Co is Keith Bros & Company, not Browning King. They were a hat maker out of Chicago who appear to have gone out of business in the early part of the century.
Excellent... and makes a lot of sense. Couldn't figure why Browning King Clothiers would be selling a hat through another retail store. And look at those Krazy Kats!

As sold thru Sears 1940 - 1943. 4" brim with pencil roll x 7" Open Crown. In advertisements the color was called "Nutria Tan". I believe it's a wool blend.
