This came in this week as part of a lottery lot. Just two vague pictures. The price was right, so why not? This is what showed up (thank the heavens they were packed up well enough).

Panama hat of nice quality. No brand or size or anything really. What I look for is a decent weave and if the brim edge is woven as well. In that case I can use these as a panama hat body, to be made into a decent hat later. It's way cheaper than buying a ready made panama of the same quality.
I consider panama hat weaving a dying art and it is so for a while now. Soon nobody will be making these finely woven straw hats anymore, so best get them while you still can.

P&C Habig Spezial Sport fedora in black. Definitely meant to be an outdoors kind of hat as it's not as refined as other Habig hats I've handled and the felt is fairly sturdy; this can take some rain if need be. The ribbon also points in the direction of outdoors. Size 59 (I think; can't read that part of the label anymore) with the overwelt brim at almost 6cm and the crown at 10cm at the front. This has the "ventilo" system that Habig patented, with little strips of felt in between sweatband and front of the crown. It dates from 1955.
PM me if you're interested.

This hat was generously gifted to me by Daniele @Daniele Tanto. So a big thank you goes to Verona for this one. Funny thing is I've never seen a Fléchet homburg before. Apparently not a model they saw as a market for them. They probably should have though, because it's a very fine quality hat.
Fléchet qualité superieure homburg in dark brown. Size 56 with the bound brim at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Liner used to have a cellophane covering as there are traces of it left on the liner. Nice hand to the felt, but it takes a bit of work to shape it.

It took a while to get hold of this one. Seller wouldn't budge on the price even though at didn't sell several times. Somewhere along the way it got a hold on me though. Daniele @Daniele Tanto was the middle man for this one, as he often is. So, thank you, Daniele.
Barbisio Lontra Visone longhair finish hat in Sesia colour. Overwelt brim at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. So is it otter (lontra) with a mink (visone) finish or vice versa? Don't know, but whatever it is, the feel of the felt is incredible. Super soft hand and shapes without any effort. Only thing I can say about it really is that it seems to have shrunk a smidge over the years (or at least the sweatband has), so it shows a bit a gaptooth there. Nobody's perfect. It's a superb bit of hat history and skill. And it has the Barbisio shark gill bow. Nobody does them better.

I can see why you were like a dog with a bone on that one, Stefan. It's a beauty!

I can just about feel the felt. Wonderful Barbisio gill bow, too.
