As unboxed. 1950s Dobbs Gay Blade. 5-7/8” crown, 2-7/8” brim. Felt you want to get your hands into … the moth babies even liked it a little.

Great looking even with the moth nibbles, I’ve worn worse. Sharp looking ribbon and wide brim binding.

Looks so good I might’ve even taken a bite!
Gay Blade, huh?
Dobbs creators musta been some happy people.
“Not that there’s anything wrong with it.”

I'll thank @GHT for the lead on this one. Another smooth as silk Penn Craft bowler with all the common elements of fine vintage bowlers. I've decided I look good in black!

There is something rather special about the bowler hat. It has that quality that we Brits describe by using a French expression: "Je ne sais quoi!" You wear it well good Sir, even without the collar & tie you still have the look of the professional. You could easily pass as the bank manager or neighbourhood doctor. You are a class act.

It has become easy for me to wear bowler hats in the last five years or so. The simplicity of the look and functionality of the design is what draws me, I suppose. I will not claim it is a tee shirt kind of hat (I'm still something of a homebody, post-Covid, and tees have become the norm around the house), the style compliments much of my attire and the basic black goes with most everything. While fedora's are still my rough and tumble work and gardening hats, and homburgs usually get the nod for Sunday services, bowlers have replaced other hats for my daily routines...and, I tend to get a lot of compliments when I wear them! I thank you for yours.

I hope you and the Mrs are doing well this early spring.

Another nice Penn-Craft Bowler, Randy. And, as Robert mentioned, you do suit them very well indeed.

Well I’ve received em packed worse but not by much. Thankfully the material this is made from seems to be pretty forgiving.
It’s a new one on me “Genuine Vilon” Woven in the Orient. Kinda reminds me of the fabric outdoor furniture is made of.

For a $12.99 bargain buy I’ll keep it. Sweat a little rough but wearable. I think it’ll respond to some steam.
