The seller’s photos didn’t make it look that low. I’m sorry that this hat didn’t work for you, particularly since it sounds like it’s otherwise a very nice hat.

Awesome Hat! I will say back in the 20's and 30's, hats like that were not sold as homburgs but rather up-brim soft hats (fedoras). Look at some of my early catalog postings and you will see what I mean.......
Whatever you wish to call it.....it is simply stunning......quite the hat! Great find!

I had been coveting this hat for quite some time. The navy blue box pleat bow is quite something. This was part of an exchange with @M Hatman and has been getting a lot of head time lately.

I have a hat that is identical to that one, but I am too lazy toook for it right now.[emoji4]

Yes, Tim, I found it at a vintage/thrift store. I think this is the first hat they've had this fall/winter season that I was interested in.

Ha ha, yes, I made a lot of progress. It still has a ways to go. The felt feels like it doesn't have any stiffener at all in it. And it is very lightweight on top of that.

I think this Stetson Special might be the one I was thinking of, but I will keep looking. I am up to 370 hats now and my memory is shot anyway... It sucks, getting old.

You're right, they are waay too floppy and lightweight. Maybe I will follow Bowen's tip and spray some Aquanet on it.

Got me a Pilgrim Stratoliner clone. From what I understand they were made by Lee for Sears, similar to Marathon for Penneys. Pretty decent, and I love the Stratoliner style.

Here’s a side by side next to my 1941 Strat. Huge difference in quality as to be expected. The felt is much stiffer and rougher snd the sweat is definitely lower quality, but construction appears pretty good.

Nothing at all under the sweat, so I guess pretty tough to determine age.

Iron it and steam it the way you like it first.
