Thanks Brad. Even my wife liked it, though I think she also appreciated that it didn't arrive with a suitcase. :)

The CAV edge on the KNOX 100 that I owned was absolutely perfect like yours, Alan. Even though I love CAV edges, they were not always done so well. I have owned Knox's and Dobbs, etc where the CAV edge is not even so it looks like a poorly executed hat. They must have chosen the BEST CAV 100% beaver bodies for the KNOX 100. Your hat is in MINT condition and looks wonderful with the original ribbon. Mine sold for over $580 and the buyer said that not only was it worth every penny but the finest hat they had ever seen. My hat was in nice shape, but not mint. Your hat to be very honest is better than ANY hat OPTIMO sells. To me, your hat is worth much more than mine sold for. Optimo charges $1000 for their 1000 and it doesn't hold a candle to your Knox 100. If you ask me, your hat is worth $1000 as well and is worth every penny of that $1000! Amazing find! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Here's a new Cavanagh lightweight (I hope) "derby" I picked up on Ebay for $4.99. I do not know the model, but it resembles some other great lightweights I have found & seen here. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Auction photos. [omitted - see above]

This one arrived today and I am pleased that it is indeed a lightweight men's hat as hoped. It generally resembles the Knox Vagabond Miracle Felt (thin ribbon though), but I cannot identify the model (if it had a particular name). It is a very lightweight hat, and in good condition except for wrinkling in the ribbon-covering on the very thin leather sweatband.

It amazes me that some sellers do not even bother to crease the hats they sell. I picked this up for $4.99, but if creased as shown here, I am sure it would have brought more.

Anyone living around Dallas should visit the Hatco outlet store in Garland. A ton of wool felt fedoras on sale for 10 bucks. Stocked myself up for the cold winter with a couple. The brown is a Stetson and the other is Dobbs Fifth Ave NY "Strand" in Pearl.

Just arrived: deep chocolate brown Champ with a taupe hat band. Fits perfectly. Thick, substantial felt. 2 1/4 inch brim. Looks early 50s. It ain't a Knox 100, but I like it.

OK, Charlie, I'll see your Open Road and raise you one (looks great on you by the way, I seem to remember seeing that one in the bay, but I could be wrong; congrats on landing that big fish!).

This arrived today. Right out of the box I pushed out the rough cattleman's crease, brushed it a little bit, then shaped a loose diamond into the crown. It has some nice, soft, pliable felt. It's cleaner than it looks in the photos, and I don't mind the few spots on it. Interior is nice and clean, with a soft sweatband. I'm not even going to put steam to this one. I may try to get those spots out of the brim, or maybe not. Otherwise it's going to stay just as it is.

Not found on Ebay, GDurand! It was a shot in the dark, "Do it NOW" kind of find. All done through the "fog." I might not have made the purchase under normal conditions.

Happy, Happy, HAPPY. Sweet find, your OR! Looks like it found the head it was made for!

Very nice find G.Durand. Very nice. I like the diamond crease you put in it,too, and I'm reeeal partial to cattleman crowns.

Barbisio

Don't know much about Barbisio hats but I recently picked this up at part of a lot of hats. Nothing at little cleaning won't fix. I did steam it out just to put it back into shape. It has a 2 1/4" brim with a small overwelt edge and a 5 1/2" open untapered crown wrapped in a 3/4" grosgrain ribbon. The sweat is very soft and pliable with a taped back seam. Any help of dating it would be appreciated. I was thinking the 30s or early 40s but I'm not sure. I guess you could call this a long hair. It has a fuzzy finish but I don't know the proper name.

Absolutely a beautiful hat! Very interesting ribbon, probably from the southern French company "Vialaton & Martin". I have a bolt of the stuff ... kind of like ply-ribbon, but single-sided. It's the first time I've seen it on a hat ... looks really nice :)
