Thanks, guys! I'm very excited about it! The crown is 5 3/4" open. Size is 7 1/4 snug. Brim width is 2 3/8". I would consider this color as taupe, but the tag says CAV GREY.

Yeah, man. That is a sweet, sweet Cav. I wouldn't change a thing about the blocking/creasing, and the color is amazing. That's a hall-of-famer for sure!

I just received the holy grail I never knew existed. I'm practically hyperventilating, nerding out right now.

'Zounds, Jeff, that certainly deserves a top shelf position within your collection. What an unusual and well-preserved doiby! It even looks good atop your bean. :)

Ps. Good pun re: hyperventilation.

I don't know if this counts, but I'm almost done making my own hat. So "technically" newly acquired? It's a straight sided crown, about 5 3/4" unbashed. I trimmed down the brim to 2 1/2 inches with a home made rounding jack (worked crappily, back to the drawing board)

I threw on a temporary ribbon I whipped up

Side view of the temporary ribbon.

Later I'm going to clean up the hat body and add more shellac, flange this rascal, fix the brim trimming, sew in the sweatband, put in the liner and maybe put on a wider ribbon.

Nice work, that is something I want to try and do one day!

ty, it really is a fun hobby. And this way I can have as many hats with the same dimensions as the 'Stetson Nostalgia' or 'Akubra Fed I' as I want, and not have to wait till my teeth fall out for some to come up for auction in my size : D

Echter Borsalino, light brown, measures around 59cm, probably late 1950s.

Beautiful!

Picked this up on ebay a few nights ago, was advertised as possibly being a Fed III, but ended up being a Fed I. It has a non-dimensional 2.5" brim and a 5" or so crown bashed, 5.5" unbashed. I love this hat!

This is my second Akubra (I have a moonstone fed IV) and I think I've found my kicking around hat!
