Beautiful hat, EggHead, and congratulations. Caxtons are elusive, but consistently well finished, quality hats. Please consider adding photos of your fine example to the Caxton Cafe.

Cool, hat Egg!
The very first hat I ever bid on at E-Bay was a Caxton.
Did not win it. I think it went for a little over $50.
I thought that was HIGH!!!! That was a while back.
Man.. I would have never thought I would pay for some hats the price I did.

Thanks guys. This Caxton looks like it has never been worn and quality is excellent.
Crown open 6.25", brim 2.75"

RBH, I will add pics to Caxton Cafe when I get a chance to take more photos.

Looks lovely, the lady insists that (after consult with our own Panama Bob) that it is NOT a Monti but a Cuenca, falsely stamped... could've fooled me. [huh]

Felt is not soft--either non-belly Nutria or some wool content. The bottom appears to be silk and wraps up and over to bind the edge.

Fascinating. More thoughts to follow when I see one in person, but it seems these might be inexpensive house brand alternatives to the the Stetson standard of the day. Great time capsule purchase.

Beautiful dobbs winter joe .have not seen one with that liner before or sweat markings.
BOb,I bought one of those green tree hats too only to return as the quality was dismally disappointing and size was mis advertised ,but the pic looked great.

Robert,

That is a very interesting hat. I've been watching those Greentree hat auctions too and I almost bought one just to look at it in person even though it wasn't my size.
