Cool, hat Egg!
The very first hat I ever bid on at E-Bay was a Caxton.
Did not win it. I think it went for a little over $50.
I thought that was HIGH!!!! That was a while back.
Man.. I would have never thought I would pay for some hats the price I did.

Got this vintage Optimo Panama this a.m. Sports a wpi of about 500.

Looks lovely, the lady insists that (after consult with our own Panama Bob) that it is NOT a Monti but a Cuenca, falsely stamped... could've fooled me. [huh]

Early 20th Century Silk under brim

one of a group from L. Greentree of Cheyenne, WY.

Felt is not soft--either non-belly Nutria or some wool content. The bottom appears to be silk and wraps up and over to bind the edge.

Beautiful dobbs winter joe .have not seen one with that liner before or sweat markings.
BOb,I bought one of those green tree hats too only to return as the quality was dismally disappointing and size was mis advertised ,but the pic looked great.

Hawes Hats circa 1900-1910

Soft hat, fur finish. More than a century old but mint, wearable condition. Will need to be photographed in daylight... more complete coverage to follow in the Hawes/Hawes Von Gal thread.
