Peschel Velour, Size 58, late 50s early 60s.

I got this one for about $10.00. Looked like a wreck but I knew it was a nice wider brim Velour.

this deserves a "book by it's cover" comment, but I haven't had my coffee yet, and I'm not that witty

Nice looking hat Alan. Everybody needs at least 1 Western hat.

:arated:

Yesterday I picked this Champ up at a vintage clothing store here in Orlando:

Interesting brim curl and pin. I forgot to get a shot of the inside. The sweat band and liner are in almost new condition. The liner is gold and the sweat says Kasmir finish and Champ - Feel the Felt. It's a cool hat but I don't think I will be able to stretch it from 7 1/4 to 7 3/8 without really changing up the brim - it really distorts when I stretch it just putting it on. I'll play with it for a bit.
I can imagine with a brim like that it wouldn't be forgiving with a stretch. I know how warblely my fed 4 brim gets with I stretch it and that's just a snap brim. :eusa_doh:

I have a feeling this one will be on the trading block soon...I'm not sure there is much I can do with it. I don't really want to cut the brim - alothough this brim has to be around 3-inches flattened out.

G. B. Borsalino Fu Lazzaro & C.

G. B. Borsalino Fu Lazzaro & C., size 6 1/2 Punti. Could be 1920s early 1930s. This one is in good condition and a larger size. Also from the other Borsalino so not common. Very good deal at $40.00 including shipping.

If that Champ was smaller I'd be bugging you to buy it off you. I am taken with that brim curl. It looks interesting. Usually I only see that on westerns.

I love everything about that hat Steve. The brim curl is great, the sweatband looks very high end, and the Liner looks so rich and pearly. I love it! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Second Sachsel

Got this very nice hat today. Marked Sachsel from Stephen Sachsel Chicago. This one says Hand Made where my last Sachsel said Custom Made (see post #4368 this thread). Nice straight tall crown. The felt on this one is right up there with a Knox/Dobbs Forty. Nice deep cav edge. Formed the c-crown crease dry with ease. Not sure of the "Lange 1614 LO" marking on the tag. I'm guessing LO because the hat feels like a 7 1/4 LO. Thick leather sweatband taped at the rear and a wind trolley with a fixed button.

Alan, you've certainly jumped into the fray with both feet. Both are great hats - I've not heard of Vanzina before but it looks really special. Nice work!

<smile> yes... I've had practice from other collecting binges over the years. Trying to exercise restraint, but it's hard.

Many favored qualities: Mixed color felt, silk finish and overall spiral stitching. Super Mossant quality as always.
