This Scott & Co arrived a few days ago. It’s a beauty! The crown is dense and malleable and ready to take any shape. Approximately 5.5” open crown. The 2” wide ribbon is stately and the bow has a frayed trailing edge, but the fraying is minimal. What I didn’t know from the seller’s photos and description is that it’s a tuxedo hat (being British maybe a dinner suit hat)! The underside of the 2 1/4” wide brim is completely covered in black grosgrain. The grosgrain extends onto the top of the brim giving it the look of a thinly bound brim when viewed from the top.

It’s in great condition with a sewn in liner. The sweatband is soft and supple. I was unable to find any paper labels or size indicators. And there’s the rub! It was sold as a size 7 5/8 (my size). In fact, the sweatband measures approximately 7 3/4 by 6 1/4 inches. Approximately a size 7 US. Major bummer. I got it through eBay so I can return it for a full refund. I’d pass it on if anyone here wanted to take a chance on it. Send me a PM if you’re interested.

I remember looking at that one, and the frayed trailing edge. I thought it was wear, then realized it was a style choice I hadn't seen before. I also noted the underbrim pattern, but thougjt it was a trick of their camers.
I wear 7 1/8, and have 7s from bad size guessing by sellers. Ive been saving them as stock for launching my business, but now have more than I do of my own size!

Borsalino Verdi:

5 1/2” open crown. The raw edge brim is between 3 1/8 and 3 1/4” wide. Soft almost to the point of floppy.

This hat is destined to be remade into an Alessandria/Open Road clone. I’ll give up a bit of brim to gain some crown when it’s reblocked, put on a thin ribbon, and bind the brim. All told, I expect to have less into it than what a new Campdraft Deluxe would cost me.

And typical of Borsalino, this 7 3/4 just barely fits my 7 5/8 head.

This Tonak Fedora was kindly added to a wonderful trio of hats I bought from Stefan. It seems to work well up, down, and in between. I think I prefer the in between right now.
It has a soft, velvety felt, very pliable. The liner is a mix of sown, loose and glued at the back.
It's one of those hats, though nothing particularly special, that can be worn often with pleasure. Thank you Stefan.

Sunny day on a Hawaiian beach ... I'd wear NOTHING at all :)
I know most Americans are not into nude bathing, but according to Google you have atleast two Nude-Beaches on Kauai ... Secret-Beach and Donkey-Beach.

Wore my Biltmore to a beach today where many wore little.

Janyška Velour, 57cm possibly late 1930s early 1940s. Janyška & Cie. were a Czech owned and established in the 1920s in Valasske Mezirici, Moravia which is about 25 km from the famous hat and felt production center of Nový Jičín. This is my first Janyška Velour but unfortunately the model name is not legible on the paper label. The black Velour felt is of very high quality (dying, finish, hand) and easily dry creases.

Picked this one up this week. A tad small on me and already have one like this, so it's going again.
Borsalino Ardilla in Mogano colour. Size 56 with the overwelt brim at 5,5cm and the crown 11 cm at the center dent. The felt is fantastic: a real petting hat. Someone decided to perforate the sweatband for some reason, but that's a minor flaw. Dates from 1979.

This was yesterday's new hat. The sweat is strong and supple, nut very faded. If I squint and hold my tongue just right I can make out Milan, but otherwise know nothing about this one, except that the paisley hatband sucked me in.
Smaller brim than I am looking for, but I like the hat.
