Now that's vented. I like that one, Dd. I'm trying not to buy any more straws but these vented ones are tempting.
Thanks Bama, I have been looking for an older vented straw. I don't think I can rock it like Steve McQueen.

I was fortunate to pick up this Stetson Open Road 7X CB, my first, on ebay the other day. Has some moth damage that I am working on. It has a small hole in front just at the bottom of the ribbon so it is not too noticeable but I may try to fill it. The SB will need to be replaced so with the imperfections I got it for $67.00 + shipping, so I am thrilled to have it. Wonderful soft felt so now I know why everyone raves about these. After I finish working on it I'll post more photos.

Congratulations! So glad to see you get one. That is one that has eluded me, even at very high bids! You got a killer deal! Looking forward to seeing more of it.

Thanks DD. :) I was surprised to get it at that price. Probably wouldn't have got it if it didn't have the moth damage. But I can live with it. Such nice soft lightweight felt. Keep looking you will find one. :)

Just received this straw hat. It appears to be unworn. I still don't know the type of straw, but it is flexible and the storage damage will be an easy fix. I'm very happy with this one.

Nice one DD!! I'm a big fan of that crease...sort of a squared off cattleman. I think I'm up to like 4 of them at this point. All of mine are vented, but none of them as cool as that one is. Great find!

I think I found an old Mallory sweat that will fit in this hat I found yesterday, sans sweat.

Still no firm idea who made this one. The liner is pretty grubby.

Anyone familiar with this logo?

Michael
I'll have to compare it to the one in my Parkway. It's similar at least.

This Scott & Co arrived a few days ago. It’s a beauty! The crown is dense and malleable and ready to take any shape. Approximately 5.5” open crown. The 2” wide ribbon is stately and the bow has a frayed trailing edge, but the fraying is minimal. What I didn’t know from the seller’s photos and description is that it’s a tuxedo hat (being British maybe a dinner suit hat)! The underside of the 2 1/4” wide brim is completely covered in black grosgrain. The grosgrain extends onto the top of the brim giving it the look of a thinly bound brim when viewed from the top.

It’s in great condition with a sewn in liner. The sweatband is soft and supple. I was unable to find any paper labels or size indicators. And there’s the rub! It was sold as a size 7 5/8 (my size). In fact, the sweatband measures approximately 7 3/4 by 6 1/4 inches. Approximately a size 7 US. Major bummer. I got it through eBay so I can return it for a full refund. I’d pass it on if anyone here wanted to take a chance on it. Send me a PM if you’re interested.

It’s a beautiful hat in wonderful condition, but I don’t think even Ignacio could make it work for me.

Borsalino Verdi:

5 1/2” open crown. The raw edge brim is between 3 1/8 and 3 1/4” wide. Soft almost to the point of floppy.

This hat is destined to be remade into an Alessandria/Open Road clone. I’ll give up a bit of brim to gain some crown when it’s reblocked, put on a thin ribbon, and bind the brim. All told, I expect to have less into it than what a new Campdraft Deluxe would cost me.

And typical of Borsalino, this 7 3/4 just barely fits my 7 5/8 head.
