After a long wait for FedEx to send their VW bug from Pennsylvania with my hat, today the St. Regis landed. Overall, I'm more than pleased with this Homburg. The sweat is a little on the dry side, being conditioned right now. The 7 1/4 size has shrunk by a bunch, maybe evidenced by the dry sweat. The rest of the hat is rather pristine. The liner logo has the shield and stars as well as the sweat logo. The retailer, McCue & Drummond was located in the Hotel McAlpin in New York until 1946 when they were forced out by the new owners. I cannot find where they went or how long they stayed in business in a simple search. I'm off to Mike Miller at NW Hats in the morning to have it stretched to a LO.

J. Hückel ´s Söhne "Flexible" "Seal Velour", measures 58cm, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 1/4 inches, probably later 1930s. The Velour on this one is fantastic (molds like clay) and in perfect condition. The color is a Dark Chocolate Brown that absorbs all light so very difficult to photograph. This hat had a Crease Clip because you can see the deep crease is still present in the Crown. Also a very interesting liner that coordinates with the felt color. I couldn't locate a paper label but might be farther up into the crown. What is interesting is that I have J. Hückel ´s Söhne Promo Pocket Mirror from Huthase (from the same time period) with a similar style hat (Color, Form). I am very much looking forward to wearing this hat when cooler temperatures arrive.

Interesting finish, must feel good to the touch. I have a box of period crease clips if you want to recreate the look.

Isn't the saying "all good things come to those that wait"? You have been waiting a while, Mike, but that certainly is a good thing right there. Great looking hat.

Patience is a virtue? I have noticed that the shipping companies here in the US have vastly different and unpredictable delivery times. This hat took 12 days from the end of the auction, which I felt was kind of long. I was just happy to see it show up and was very pleased with the homburg.

Don't know where else to post this one. Stetson does seem to have several threads, but not for these dress hats. Anyway. Stetson Imperial in brown, size 7 with mode edge. Brim at 6,5 cmand crown at 11cm at the pinch. Beautifully lined and in as new condition. I've had this hat for the longest time (since I started collection hats that is) but never got around to posting it because I could not find the right thread for it. You could say this hat started off the hat collecting for me. Doesn't get much wear I must admit, because it's a bit roomy for me. The felt is incredible. Don't have the usual setup of pictures of this one and don't even have a shot of the label. Judging by the crest and size label this one is from the early to mid-fifties.

Does the older "Imperial" have a different hand to it? My recent production "Imperial" has a suede like sort of feel.
