My new Manhattan Aubergine arrived today. The hue really changes with the lighting, and even the time of day.

Guess I can join the gang now!

I just picked up this beauty for a steal! The crown is a bit small for my taste but for less than $200, who could complain!?

Model- Chicago
Color- Coffee
Finish- Satin

Lovely! I think you'll find it a surprisingly versatile color. It's in the same family as Optimo's oxblood and a popular color from Winchester called Black Cherry that many members here have had hats made up with. The ribbon is something else too. When they first added that color to the website, I nearly sent in my Dillinger for a ribbon swap.

Yes, I really like that ribbon as well. In direct sunlight it almost iridesces.

I think it's a great colour, Max. But it's hard to shake off the thought of the purple dinosaur once it gets hold...
Wives do have a knack for that sort of thing (well, mine does anyway).

I was going to try and get the Barney image out of your head, but not sure this is helping...

BTW ... I still love that hat and would wear it often!

Anyone know the range their Panamas run? I could've sworn last time I checked one was $350 but seeing the felt hats in the $5-650 range is disheartening. I had hoped to visit Chicago to pick one out but that'll be out of my budget.

I think I remember Tiffani said they started at 595, but I could be wrong. Why don't you just call? She would have to see what they have available anyway.

Website shows Milan at $395, panamas start at $595.
I poked around their website numerous times trying to find pricing but never was able to. Thanks!

drmaxtejada: I wanted to get a ballpark figure to decide whether I should pick up a $100 job or just go all in for an Optimo. I'm really smitten by their Panamas though.

Park Avenue in Silverbelly. It was my first good hat, and I bought it in 58.25 because I didn't know what a good fit felt like. I ordered my next Optimo in 58.5, and the next in 58.75, which was perfect for me.
I was able to stretch this Silverbelly to 58.75, but it took a while. It kept shrinking back to 58.25
The Park Avenue is like the Manhattan, but with a wider brim, 2.75 inches instead of 2.5, and consequently a bit if a higher crown, to maintain proportions.

I asked Tiffani if I could have a Frank Lloyd Wright without the extras, so I wouldn't have to spend $500 dollars in stuff I didn't really want.
She said I could have a copy made in a different felt, but not the FLW heirloom felt, so I chose Bison, which she said was the closest in color.
I found the brim to be too straight for me, so when I got it, I altered it a little. I pulled the front brim down, and curved the sides up. The result was more to my liking.
All the pictures in this post were taken before I altered it.

The first time I wore it on the golf course, it started to rain. I decided to keep it on, and see what would happen. The first picture is of the FLW wet, the second after it dried, and the third after I wiped it clean with my sweater.
My FLW looked like it did when I first opened the box.

Beaver WORKS, Max. When asked if rain will adversely affect a beaver fur lid, I always respond with, "where does a beaver spend most of his/her time? The WATER!"

Should be fine!! Paja toquilla is another story, though.

The brim front is now officially perfect, too!!

It is just that the day I bought my Optimo Silverbelly I walked under an awning in the rain. The Silverbelly, being light-colored, stained from the crud that was in the awning, and I had a hard time cleaning it. My FLW is dark brown, and I wasn't worried about staining.
