mail

Dear Optimo Clients & Friends:

We hope you are all staying well and safe.

We have been busy here, and soon will have a lot of exciting new developments to share with you, from new colors and collections, to a proprietary weatherproofing system called Opti-Gard™ - the result of much research.

And to provide you early access to all of it, we're pleased to announce the formation of the Optimo Insider Club - and invite you to be among the inaugural class of members.

The Optimo Insider Club will give you first access to everything new at Optimo, as well as a variety of interesting, hat-centric content, special events, and commentary. In the future Insiders will also get invitations tours of our Factory in Southside Chicago and to special social events in major cities around the world.

There is no cost to enroll in the Insiders Club. Simply click the button below to send your contact details to Doug at insider@optimo.com, and soon you'll be receiving exciting news and special offers! (And we will never sell, trade, rent, or give away any of your personal information, of course.)

I did receive it, and already ordered a copy of Alan's Stack in the white Rex felt.
It is made of Orylag fur, and Optimo secured a worldwide exclusive from FEPSA.
Insiders get a big discount, and can order before anyone else. I am very excited.
Below are pictures of the Rex in Platinum and White, as well as pictures of Alan's Stack. The pictures of the Stack are Alan's. What a dream hat!
The Rex will also be available in sky blue and fawn, but those colors will be available later in the fall.

My latest Optimo Chicago Panama today, with the black ribbon. I count 625 WPI. I don't know how much it would cost directly from Optimo, but I bought my first one three years ago from them (pictures at the bottom, with the blue ribbon). It has 381 WPI, and the price was 2 thousand dollars.

I also think that the weave on the new one is straighter and more even.
I like the color in my first one more, because it is a little lighter.

Looks great, Max.
Who do you like better: Optimo or Brent Black?

Optimo seems to me to pay more attention to details. The sweatbands seem just little better, and the blocking and the ribbons too. Seems as if they take their time more at Optimo...
It may be just brand loyalty, though, I am not even sure.
However, I have never bought a hat directly from Brent Black, but I have the possibly unfounded impression that their prices are more reasonable.
So, you see, I elaborated a lot to say I'm not sure...:)

Optimo Rex. The felt is very white, soft and a little thick.
I asked Graham Thompson to duplicate Alan's Stack, and although the Rex is beautiful, I am a little disappointed because there is a taper in the crown, where Alan's is more square. I will take it to Ignacio this week to see if he can reblock it more to my liking.
The Stack's pictures are in the bottom

Sharp! That’s a great looking hat! I know the model is Rex, but what’s the significance of “A.P Rex 1” ? Also what’s your opinion on the felt? It’s proprietary to them apparently.

“Thick” left me wondering. I don’t want all my fedoras to be featherweights, but I don’t think that “thick” is an adjective that I ever associate with felt for fine fedoras.
perhaps 'dense' is a better term? I would use that as a term that describes the dif between my Tonak rabbit and the Winchester beaver felts. Similar thickness but the beaver is much more dense.
