Apparently she was gangly and nicknamed "Toothpick"! Talk about becoming a woman ;)

While I am stunned by her outer beauty, I truly admire her for her inner beauty by the commitment she had in her relationship with Carlo Ponti whom she met when she was 15 1/2 years old. They had their obstacles and I have read how she stood by her principles and was committed to her relationship.

So when I think of Sophia Loren I see a woman I revere and seek those qualities in others. That is her beauty and transformation for me.

Sophia Loren

She has said on many occasions that being born into and living with extreme poverty for most of her childhood gave her a strength of character that allowed her to succeed and appreciate every moment she has been given as a human being. Up until Sophia Loren was about 14, she was considered an ugly duckling.

Now, Dita Von Teese is not an Old Hollywood Star, but she is the bona fide modern replica and her transformation is worth noting:

When I think of these amazing women it is with an understanding that physical beauty is fleeting, at best. For me their presence, loveliness and influence on society is enhanced by their acts off screen. That is what makes them beautiful.

Dita Von Teese looks so different.

Speaking of Dita.. she just posted a pic on twitter from when she was just starting out.

"I found this old pic of me wearing my first corset..." "I was 19. It was probably 1991."

Crazy, yeah? I'm glad she went dark. I'm not very fond of the red on her.
