Costume Designer for film! But you probably already guessed that... The 30's were the glamour days- I think I'd be like Adrian and do massively huge pseudo-historicals (like Marie Antoinette) or modern surrealist inspired designs (like The Women)

A detective would be nice. But there's not that much security in that job. Maybe something in Aviation, afterall, that's the reason I'm at Embry Riddle Aeroanautical University. A test pilot would offer a lot of thrills.

I believe the thread was any occupation... So why would anyone want to be an assistant or work their way up.

Be the boss! Own the studio then make your own show. Own the aircraft manufacturer and fly your own planes...

Me? I'd own GM and then be a playboy doing anything I want....

Wearing a white suit and panama hat;

I'd want to be a plantation manager on a sugar plantation in Hawaii. The 5,000 square foot homes the sugar company provided were absolutely awesome.:rolleyes:

Hey, could I run the steam trains on your plantation? :)

A lot of people don't realize that trains were used to haul cane and pineapple in Hawaii. There is still a section in Maui that they run trains for tourists and on Oahu there are tracks in Wainae.

The plumes that they used for irrigation were also utilized by kids as waterslides.lol

What i would be...

Big band leader, like Ernesto Lecuona.

Traveling all over europe in the prewar years and playing exotic rhumba and swing at the most exclusive casinos and bars. Getting, fame, fortune, freinds and seducing hot divas. :p

But suddenly must flee as the Naziz take over in europe, makes an dangerous escape through africa and land in south america. After a few years on the bottle, my music gets a revival and start making scores for motion pictures and then marries happily. Thats me ha ha

When I lived on the Big Island, I found a book on Hawaiian railroads and started hunting. The Hawaii Consolidated Railway was put out of business by the tsunami of 1946, but you can still see old rail bridges reconfigured as highway bridges, and the old roundhouse in Hilo still stands. The HCR was the only standard-gauge railroad in Hawaii.

That tsunami moved rail cars all the way from the bay up 1/4 of a mile on Wainuenue Avenue.:eek: My family is from that side of the Big Island; Laupahoehoe, Honokaa, Kukuihaele and my mother's parents were married at St. Joseph's in Hilo which is just blocks from where the trains stopped. The old plantation manager's house in Kukuihaele is the golden era house I would want to be the manager for the plantation. It has the wrap around porch, tennis court, swimming pool and view of the Pacific Ocean. The house the plantation moved my Dad's family into when grandpa was a field supervisor was 1600 square feet and still stands right before the entrance to Waipio Lookout. I wish I had pictures of the plantation managers house. It was put up for sale back in 1991 with an asking price of $1.5 million with 5 acres. The house apparently had some heavy termite damage.

I loved it when I went to Tex's for the first time and it was laid out;
1 malasada .50
2 malasada 1.00
3 malasada 1.50
etc.etc. all the way to 12.lol

HPA is an excellent school. Parker Ranch used to pay the tuition for the children of any employee who got accepted there.:eusa_clap (perhaps they still do)
