Need Advice on Brass Tokyo Repair

Hey everyone.

Hope you are well.

I wanted to know if any of you from the U.S. have sent boots or shoes off to Clinch/Brass Tokyo to have repairs done? If so, when shipping your boots, how did you mark your customs form? Does it matter? There are options for “merchandise” “returned goods”, etc. I purchased these from Clutch Cafe, not directly from Clinch and I had to pay really high import duties. I want to avoid exorbitant taxes and fees when shipping the boots to Japan if at all possible. After all, this is just a repair it’s not like I should be charged crazy fees twice.

Thanks, for your help.

Hi, I recently shipped a pair of boots from Europe (EU) to the US using UPS, I was required to complete a customs form because I was sending outside of the EU; one item that I was required to report was whether the boots were a sale, a repair or a return - there was no charge to the receiver if sending for repair or return, but when I selected sale it calculated the charges and noted that they'd be charged to the receiver.

I'd say when you send them make sure that they mark them as a repair job when they're returning them so that you don't get hit with a customs fee that you've already paid.

Would be interested to hear about pricing if you do send them to Brass as I have a pair of clinch engineers that I'd like to have resoled later in the year.
