Raining?....raining?.....

Here in the Sonoran Desert of the Southwest, it is approaching 7p, the sun is still out and it's nearly 100 degrees; we haven't seen rain in months! I've forgotten what its like! -dixon cannon

Behind the 8 ball,..
Rained cats and dogs here today. Rained yesterday, and the day before that. Probably rain all next week,.....but it's all good.
Makes the flowers grow.
All in all it's been an extremely nice spring. :)

Well, we've actually had a respite from the rain up here where I am, and the skies are clear at the moment. But my best friend down in New Hampshire tells me she's got nine inches of water in her cellar, and the roads are washing out -- so apparently there's more yet to come.

I actually did have an Indoor Beach Party once, a couple of winters ago, with my youngest niece. We turned up the furnace to 80, put on bathing suits, turned the floor lamp to its highest setting, and *basked* on the living room floor for an afternoon. If oil didn't cost so much now, I'd be tempted to do it again!

It hasn't been raining exactly

but, it looks as though it might at any moment gray, dreary, it was raining off and on for about the last two or three days and the weather forecast is calling for rain for the next week or so :(

We've had rain and cloudy days for the past two weeks. But since we've been in a drought for the past few years, I'm not complaining! :)

I Hope Freeport is Safe

It's a little nauseating to think of the Bean store flooded...

I LOVE Maine. It's been several years since last trip. The garden shed I built behind my house from scratch is the only one of it's kind around here. It was designed by a Castine architect named Mckie Wing Roth. I'm a huge fan of his colonial reproduction houses and though I may never get to build a full-scale structure I at least have a bit of Maine Coast out back housing the mower and clippers.

Stay dry, Maine Kids.

Bean's is fine. :) It's actually not bad heading up north past Portland. Also, I used to live a block from Bean's and sought refuge in it during the big ice storm of '97 until a shelter was set up. I was semi-tempted to buy a pair of pajamas and "test" out one of the tents they had on display. I've also worked for Bean's long ago taking phone orders during the holiday season.

Bean at 3AM

Two friends and I struck out on a boy's road trip from Cambridge, MA about 15 years ago. We drove up the coast to Bean, and got there in the wee hours. We bought a bunch of stuff (I still wear the sweater and Maine Hunting Shoes), and actually did snooze in the display hammocks for about 30 minutes before turning around and heading home. In hindsight it was stupid not to just get a room for the rest of the night.
The '97 ice storm was spent on the road from Ohio to Atlanta where we had to make a major trade show presentation. About 20 mph the entire way. At one point my business partner and I were flagged off the road in TN to be housed in schools as they were closing the freeway. The state troopers had chains on their tires, so we just drove around the barricades and kept going. We had to be in Atlanta, or die trying. We did end up killing a perfectly nice Buick.
The presentation was a big hit, and we got the business. Unfortunately, the purchasing company was bought out by a British firm a week later, who nixed the business. All for nothing. :p :eek:fftopic:

Today it's supposed to get in the low to mid 90's around here...which is unusual for this time of year..makes me wonder if it's going to be an especially hot summer!

I guess one good thing about desert heat is that it's probably dry...we've got the miserable balmy heat right now...but tomorrow's gonna be my kind of weather, in the low 80's :eusa_clap

Mysterygal, I know what you mean. It was only low 80's here in the hills today, and I'm sure it was worse down in town. I wonder what it would have been like here if the afternoon sun hadn't been fighting clouds. Ouch. I wonder if tomorrow will be any better?

Was it windy at all over there? we got some serious wind for most of the day, bringing in the clouds which turned a really hot day into a really balmy day! Tomorrow's supposed to be cooler for everyone...so, hopefully that means good news to you too!

No wind at all, here. I suppose something had to bring the clouds in, but we didn't feel it. It was balmy before the clouds appeared. Good for my plants, not good for those of us who have to move.

Rain - Rain - GO AWAY!!!

It's been pouring here in CT for days. :(

Both the front and back yard are flooded. I know some parts of New England have it worse, with flooding and evacuations - I hope no one here at the Lounge has been effected to badly!
