Order is done

Thanks everybody for all of your help. I decided to order the Star Sportswear A-2 in seal brown aniline horsehide with mid-brown knits, a vintage WWII Talon slider, and dark tan thread and lining. Special thanks to Andrew for all of his help and also for posting a picture of the original on another thread. Now if I could only get hold of John to give him, my order....

Here's Andrews's original:

Revised order is done

You didn't think I wouldn't change my mind one last time, did you?

John talked me out of the Star. He thought the Dubow was a better jacket. We settled on the seal brown aniline HH with purple knits and mid-brown thread and lining of the 1755 contract, Dubow's last. I liked the seal brown HH and this particular Dubow was only done in dark brown with purple knits. Here is a link to an original. I should have my jacket soon. Wish John luck!

Goodwear 1938 Acme A-2 Pics

This is the 1938 Acme test jacket on John's new production page. I sure lucked into this one. I can't believe how perfect it fits. Just like John made it for me! The details on this jacket are off the hook! My first A-2 with a rivet zipper... and original Talon fantail! As usual, beautiful workmanship and attention to detail. Particularly, the sewn in leather strip by the zipper inside and stitching above the cuff and waist knits. Every jacket that John sends me becomes my new favorite, and this is no exception. Here's a quick link to John's page to see the details and a few pics of me wearing my "new favorite".

Thanks,
Brian

Sweet-looking jacket. I noticed it on his pictures page and was wondering who the lucky soldier was to get this beauty. How does it fit compared to his other jackets?

Can you give me the measurements of that jacket, it seems 46 is more like a 44 in suit sizes. I want to order one.

My Goodwear Dubow 1755 has just arrived, and it is truly a masterpiece. This is a classy-looking jacket and it fits and feels wonderful. There's plenty of grain too in the seal brown veg-tanned, aniline-dyed horsehide. And I love the purple knits. I never waited for anything with more anticipation in my life, and it delivered. This Dubow is top-gun in my closet now, no doubt about it.

Since I don't have a camera, I can't snap pictures of it, but they should be up on the GW site shortly. Here's a link to another Dubow 1755 made last year with the same hide and knits. Honestly, it looks even better in person. If you are thinking about getting a Highwayman, check out the Dubow first. Although it's a WWII reproduction, it looks and wears like an everyday jacket.

Damn! That's beautiful. Jealous in the extreme. May I ask how much that set you back?

Usual price. $950. And worth every penny, especially compared to a Highwayman, which has a very baggy cut, weighs a ton, and uses chrome-tanned leather. My 2 cents.
