Nashoba, as soon as you get off the plane, we'll take you right to Bobby's!

Brooksie, you look fantastic. :eusa_clap

I hope Barbigirl doesn't mind me posting this one, but I think she looks great!

Very beautiful and is that ink I see? Being from Malta is a big plus -- my husband's grandfather was from Malta.

Oh really?! It's hard to find people from here that knows where Malta is.. we're a very laid back country though people tend to wear all the same... You wont find much people going around with full sleeves of tattoos (especially woman) and wearing the kind of stuff that I like.. so it's very hard for me to find clothes that I like, or to be myself without having tons of people looking me weirdly :p

Serenity, marvelous pictures. Elegant and glamorous. Clearly you are imwieled xortih tajba, if I have it right.

Hahahah You people are amazing!! You didn't get it quite right but you surely made me laugh.. from where did you learn it?? The way you said it is amazing.. especially the "ie".. you know a maltese person for sure!! Anyways the only mistake that you did is that you're using your wordings for a male not a female.. so you should say "imwielda xortik tajba" (xortih is for him, xortik is for you.. quite difficult to explain)

It's a great place. I spent a few days there back in April 06 - I was out for a conference with work, then I stayed on. It's the only country in the world I can think of where it doesn't seem ridiculous to say "I know someone from there, do you know them..." lol Really enjoyed spending a few days wandering around Mdina, Valetta, and hopping over to Gozo. Stayed in Bugibba, where the conference was, but I found there was a pretty good bus service from there out to the other parts of the Island. Would definitely like to go back. I can imagine how in a community that small, everything is very mainstream and you'd find it hard to get hold of vintage / vintage styles. Isn't the internet great? ;)

It is! Damn Ebay.. I'm soooo adictive!! I'm very self concious, I love wearing different from the crowd but I hate ppl looking and staring at me.. sometimes I even hide my tattoos when I'm around shopping.. there's a huge taboo with tattoos here... ppl think we're still living in the age were the navy used to hang out with prostitutes and they were the only "bad" ppl who you'll find with tattoos!! I won't find a job here if I don't hide it :eusa_doh:

Oh yes.. whoever is visiting Malta, HAS to go to Mdina - The silent city.. it's amazing!! Everything there is antique!

:eek:fftopic: Yes we love Malta, and the Maltese. We are back there in May next year I think. There is quite a few re-enactors on the island, we met a a lot of them, and the people in general were so friendly. They laid on a great dance, and the army took us around the island. I must say Mdina was one of the nicest places I have ever been.

Here is a picture. This was taken at the School house in Valleta where we were staying

Yes it is a holiday. We all like Malta an awful lot. That picture was taken after we had done a wartime fashion show for the school. There is a group of about 6 of us going over, this time we do not have any "engagements" as it were, so will be visiting all the historic sites, and eating in the wonderful restaurants that you have on the island.

Kindest Regards

Ben

Oh wonderful.. let me know when you're coming.. I can suggest you some places to go :)

The first place I fell in love with in Europe was Barcelona... Then we discovered Malta, and I have never regretted a single trip there (3 times now)... It is really a well kept secret and embodies so much of what has been lost in so many other places, IMHO...

The last time we were able to spend a night on Comino, where I did nothing but lay on the beach. We also spent 2 nights on Gozo (not sure I'd ever need to go back to Gozo), but the rest of the 10 days was on Malta... heavy sigh... I need another vacation...

That said, I would love to hear any suggestions a local would care to make... :) LOL! Just told my wife I was posting this and now she's asking whether we should scrap an Eastern Caribbean Cruise for another trip to Malta... I guess I'll find out when I see the Visa statement at the end of the month?
