Tesi Florentine hat size 57/58 - was owned by a titled gentleman of Turin who died in 1979, so not sure of exact age..

Bob your Guerra could be 100% Italian.
Italian felt is still produced and some years ago more than now.
The biggest regret of the few remaining hatters in Italy, excluding Borsalino, is not to find the most excellent Italian production of felts, starting from the beautiful wool hats Monza exported all over the world and the fur felt produced in Piedmont that did great the Italian hatters.
There is not only FEPSA in Italy ;-)
Just realized I never posted a pic on this thread. At the time I was "photographically compromised." Guerra Brand "GQ." I believe this hat was made in 2007 for the American market.

I think I may have found something cool.
Saw this on Etsy early Monday morn (or was it Tuesday?) and had to have it. I had built it up in my head over the week, and when it showed up yesterday I actually waited a few hours to open it afraid tat it wouldn't live up to my expectations. And, as it proved, I was right.
It blew my expectations right out of the water. I'll let the pics do most of the talking now.

The nice decorative stitching was a complete surprise, as it didn't show in the seller's pics. Crown 5.5 inches, undrwelted brim 2 inches.93 grams. Felt feels quite dead and crumply.
I'm not going to make any age guesses. I hope those more expert than I will help out on that.
Gonna wear this one a lot!

If I were to make a guess as to the age of the Vanzina, I would say 1930s. That's based on the unreeded sweatband with unsewn ends, and a price of $22.50 on a high end Italian hat. I would be grateful if anyone could support or refute this theory.

Super! I would say 1960s maybe late 1950s early 1970s

That's why I initially didn't want to guess. The construction of the sweat had me thinking older while the dimensions seemed more modern. But, the old logo green Marathon I briefly owned was very similar in dimensions and construction to this one. Add to that the fact that I've not seen one like this before, and you can understand my confusion.

Vanzina goes way back but this is a later example.

The Italians made really high quality hats into the 1970s. Borsalino up to the mid 1980s.

I agree about the quality!
did they always use the old-school style sweatband construction with the unsewn ends? That was what threw me the most.
