Normally on Sundays I spend the morning at my father-in-law's place and usually peruse the local paper want ads, but the Sunday before last I was in Oregon visiting friends. Fortunately for me, s7eng was also perusing the want ads and saw one that he thought was right up my alley and sent me a PM about it.
Well, he was right! It was what I was looking for, so I sent in my resume as soon as I returned. I was contacted the next day, and informed that the position had been downgraded a bit. Their previous IT person had screwed up their network pretty badly and it cost them a lot of money. They brought in a consultant to get things back on track and were going to keep him on retainer for a while. In the meantime they wanted someone to do most everything else. When I went in for the interview their main concern was that I wouldn't be interested in the position with the downgrade, and my main concern was assuring them that I understood their position and was still interested.
Today I went back in for what I thought was a second interview but what turned out to be a job offer. I start part-time on Monday. The part-time is at my request as I have about three more weeks of training to complete my Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator course. If I'd wanted to I could have started today!
Anyway, I wanted to publicly thank s7eng for thinking of me and letting me know about that position. Thanks, s7eng! :eusa_clap I owe you a dinner and a drink!
Cheers,
Tom
